Lets hope the next one lasts longer ! Previous to that, I reckon the last one was in the house for 40 years ! Note, new version comes with non-imperial threads, so the new nuts won't fit on the old fitting plate, in which case, I just used the old nuts, since the old plate and washer didn't look like it needed replacing, plus they didn't want to come off easily anyhow.. Note also, if first time, turn off water, look for nearby drainage valve at bottom of tank, that is really tough to turn ! ( Made of brass, so be careful not to snap it off. ) I used some releasing oil, which maybe helped just a tiny bit. ( Still need the strength of a thousand elephants to turn it mind you.. )

The unit it replaced was so old all the nuts and threads were imperial. Hopefully the new unit lasts as long.
