Nice and inexpensive robin nesting box
Nice and inexpensive bird nesting box. Seems well-made, but the years will be the test of that (we put them in sheltered spots, obviously). They can be a bit of a fiddle to put up, especially about 7-8 feet up on rough stone walls. It would be nice to have a mounting board or bracket that the box can then be fitted to, rather than have to fabricate one for ourselves. Either that, or make the box "buildable" in situ - where we attach the back to the wall and can then securely fix the rest of the box to the back - Ikea style! Now we just put down hanks of moulted horse hair on the lawn and watch the birds do their decoration (once they get the hang of it, they end up with very luxurious nests!). Try it and you'll have friends for life. We're hoping that "our" Robins will prefer this box to the others we have put up, since one year they evicted a family of wrens from a box "unsuitable for robins", which was not great to see.Having said all that, it's how the birds rate the box that matters; however I think they're also driven by price, given what they said to me when I asked them.

A lovely nest box perfect for our robin
My wife has grown quite attached to our resident robin and is getting a little soft in her old age by requesting we put a house up for him, so she was over the moon when this nest box arrived. The nest box is very well made and was exceptionally easy to install. I read up on the best position and the site I read recommended you put the box between 1m and 2m from the ground, and ideally sheltered from wind and rain in a north easterly facing position. So this is exactly what we did.So in terms of construction a fantastic box, no sign of our robin making it his own yet but still highly recommended, it's wooden construction blends very nicely in our garden.

Flimsy box
Okay, it's a robin box, but I am a bit disappointed that is not overly strong, plus I had to paint it with preservative, and it is much smaller compared to another two I bought from a nursery. I would definitely prefer to look and feel the quality, weight and size in a shop - I now have another 6 boxes from the nursery - two robin, and four blue tit boxes (the robin boxes are big enough for blackbirds from the nursery), and none need weatherproofing first. I didn't contact the seller as I needed them asap

Cute
Well bilt box, have put it on a west fence behind some climbers and added a bit of straw as a temptation. Mr and Mrs Robin have looked at it but have not moved in yet...I am holding my breath.

Bought two of these. There are well made but after several weeks they have not attracted any nesting brids. We have nesting Blue Tits and many other birds in the garden so its not a lack of wildlife.

Not bad for the price
Seems well made a good value for the price. I may give the outside a coat of fence paint to darken it a bit Will have to wait to see if any birds want to nest in itBlue tit has looked it over - but after testing head through hole a few times went elsewhere
