The marbles are different colours so you're able to differentiate when racing.

Is this compatible with other non galt marble run brands

I don't know if its compatible but be careful as cheaper brands sometimes don't comply with EU regulations and the toxins on the cheap plastic can be harmful to children and the marbles break easily as I found out with a set I bought and ended up binning.
