Amtech K0400 Combination Spanner Set, Drop Forged and Chrome Plated Spanners, 6mm to 19mm

Great little set to keep in my van

Purchased to fill the size gaps between a mini-set recently purchased that starts at 4mm and ends with 10mm open and 11mm ring as its largest sizes and a long-used automotive set that starts at 17mm; there was confusion because a series of nuts and bolts appeared to be marked with the presumed size '11' but it is believed that could have been intended as an 'H' which a few bear. This "Amtech K0400 Combination Spanner Set, 11-Piece" comprises individual spanners with both ring and open of a single size, a system thought far more logical than odds and evens pairings (although with a couple of half-sizes thrown in. Sizes range from 6 to 19mm in these with a few omissions and no 'half-sizes'; there is consequently varying degrees of overlap at both extremes. These are apparently all full-size as they are longer, size for size (closest possible matches), than the mini-set. The set, which is presented in a fabric tie-down roll, contains a few mid-range sizes that are now essential to complete a task for which the mini-set was intended; although not immediately useful, those previously ordered probably will be in due course. Quality is mid-range and, as they are unlikely to be extensively used, are considered more than adequate for the purpose.

I bought this set of spanners initially to assemble a garden swing but have also found them useful for several other things including bicycle maintenance. There are eleven different sizes which should cover a reasonable range of tasks although I’m sure that I’ll need a size that’s not covered by this set and have to buy another at some stage! The quality of these seems good. They are robust and give enough leverage to turn those tighter nuts and bolts. They also come in a useful case which keeps them together well in my toolbox. As with a few other Amtech products I’ve bought, the quality and price are pretty reasonable. Although this is not the most comprehensive set available, I have found it very useful.

. Considering what they cost they do what is required and are very good value. They particularly suited my needs, as I mostly wanted the smaller sizes, down to 6mm, and this was the most cost effective way to get them, with the larger sizes a free bonus. They are a bit clunky and rough and probably not the strongest, but if you want something better there are enough alternatives, such as the "Draper Hi-Torq 29545 11-Piece Metric Combination Spanner Set", but at more than double the cost. I didn't need that level of quality, or want to pay for it. As an engineer I have some equivalent German Stahlwille combination spanners, from many years ago, and you can certainly see the difference in quality, but similar Stahlwille set costs about £74, or more, and only goes down to 8mm. Very pleased with this set of spanners. .

I love how it’s wrapped in a cover and easy to store. Got it for my 12 year old son’s bike and thought it would be a good ‘first tool’ of his own to tighten and service his bike. Good quality.

Pro: Like they say you get what you pay for and with this packet you do, they aren't terrible spanners and did what I needed so I haven't given them one star, as for value for money I guess they will last long enough for me to tidy the shed out. Cons: They feel cheap, they only just fit the nuts/bolts, sometimes they feel slightly large other times they are hard to fit over, you'll end up using both ends just to find a good fit.

Was trying to put together a new set of steps and realised I didn't have the right size of spanner so ordered these as there is a good selection of sizes. They come in a roll up pouch so handy to keep the set together. I can't comment on strength or durability this is an older lady with arthritis so I won't be doing lots of projects but they suit my needs!

Good quality, exceptional price, good to have at home. The only concern is the absence of 15mm spanner
