Just got this chess set and it’s so cute. The pieces are small so just a heads up, but the bird is so nice and soft. The pieces fit on the back and it folds up making it good to transport and carry around. The pieces are nice crafted. I love this board

The board is wonderful, and so are the pieces. I also liked the packaging, as well as the card inside! It was very well made, thank you!

Very very good quality set.

The parcel arrived beautifully wrapped with a black bow and and hand written card looking like it was going to be everything the blurb promised. Once into the box the closed chessboard was wrapped in a printed tissue paper with the factories history on, I thought this was a nice touch. On looking over the board it looked in beautiful condition of walnut and beech squares with a marquetry beech edge and a walnut border. There is a small gap where the board is hinged together but this is not unsightly and does not affect play. The chess pieces are held inside the closed box with with elastic loops and the box is lined in this area with a felt type material. On taking out the ‘black’ chess pieces which appear to be polished walnut they feel nice and smooth in the hand with no rough bits. However the disappointing thing is that they are not remotely uniform, but I feel this can be forgiven as they are individually carved by hand. It is obvious on examination that the person carving the dark wood is considerably better at this than the person doing the light wood carving. Many of the castellations are poorly and irregularly carved and the knights are also somewhat lacking. But taking all into consideration it’s still a nice, unique, playable chess set for the price.

It was a Christmas present for my 9 years old grand-daughter. It is very nicely presented, the box closes magneticly, the wooden pieces are simply carved (no extravagant carving) which give this chess set an elegant look.

We know Jaques products well so it was an easy choice to buy again when we wanted a chess set. It’s a lovely set and bring in a fold up board/box makes it easy convenient to store.

Realmente lo he comprado como segundo set para analizar variantes cuando estoy leyendo sobre una partida complicada. Es ideal. Muy bonito, práctico y buen precio. Tiene el encanto añadido de la marca "Jaques of London". Las piezas son muy ligeras y hay que moverlas con cuidado.

Was soll man großartig dazu schreiben: Schön und stilvoll verpackt, das Schachbrett und die Figuren selbst sind wertig verarbeitet und hinterlassen einen sehr qualitativen Eindruck. Es wackelt und quietscht nichts in den Scharnieren, es ist stabil und hat eine tolle Optik. Für den Preis kann man nur sagen, ein gutes Schachbrett und empfehlenswert.

J'ai offert ce plateau à Noël. L'emballage est élégant, parfait pour offrir, et de bonne qualité. Le produit est arrivé dans les délais et en parfait état. Le fait-main des pièces amène beaucoup de cachet, chacune d'entre elles semble unique. Dans le coffret, elles sont maintenues individuellement par un élastique : le tout est compact et peut voyager sans risque ! Le tout est si joli que nous ne le rangeons jamais au placard, il s'est intégré à la décoration du salon.

Molto soddisfatta dell'acquisto. La scacchiera è molto bella, è in legno e ben rifinita nei dettagli, e la stessa cosa vale anche per gli scacchi che una volta chiusa si fissano con degli elastici che tengono bene . Non ho trovato nulla che non andasse. Ottima qualità del materiale, buon rapporto qualità prezzo. Bella la confezione che include una scatola resistente chiusa con un nastro in stoffa ben applicato e quindi adatta ad un regalo . La consiglio.

Échiquier que j'ai offert. Il est vraiment très beau, fait de bois de bonne qualité. Très bon rapport qualité-prix ! Effectivement les pièces ne s'attache pas et la boîte ne se verrouille pas mais à moins que vous le transportiez ce n'est pas gênant. Il est fourni dans un très bel emballage ! (conforme à la photo)
