I bought this to find nails and screws hidden in my gravel parking bay. After shelling out £165 for a new tyre this is a bargain. It works for any piece of metal on, or just under the surface. It's not ground penetrating radar but it finds really small items with ease. To avoid back trouble I Gaffa taped a plastic tube to it, cut to length which allowed a sweeping action.AddendumIt won’t charge any more. It still works plugged into the mains but that sort of limits it’s usefulness out in the field. Unless a long extension lead is available. It would need to be a very long extension lead. I changed the rechargeable batteries, still no joy. I’ll be looking for a long extension lead. I expect the forthcoming electric car revolution will encounter similar issues, so getting a few hundred metres of extension cable might be considered a sensible and precautionary purchase.

Used to detect nails in wood. Extremely sensitives, even picked up small nails on the other side of 38mm Scaffold board.The signal strength indicator is super useful too.UPDATE: As time went on, it started beeping when bumped, leading to a lot of false positives. Good for a few uses, but not a good long term investment.

no problems with ordering and delivery. product work fine first time. however it now beeps continuously as soon as it is switched on. have tried taking out battery and putting it back in, replacing battery. this didn't fix the problem. (left it too late to return, my fault for being lazy and thinking time might fix the problem). still a continuous beeping and lit up detector

Bought this to de-nail some hardwood that I'm recycling. The detector really works well and can scan the surface very quickly. I've found staples screws, nails and even a deeply embedded tip of a drill bit which was invisible on the surface.

I use this for checking recycled wood prior to re-sawing, this wand finds nails and screws in boards planks and even inside 4" x 4" fence posts. No problems with this, I would definitely recommend.

Excellent bit of kit ! Easily finds fastenings under 5 cm of solid oak. Ideal when working with reclaimed timber, to help prevent the destruction of very expensive saw blades due to hidden screws and nails.So impressed I bought a second unit.

I think this is a great product! Its easy to use, comes in nice packaging and works well, definitely recommend it.
