I just wanted a simple shaving bowl. This thing is heavy and cool to the touch. It's substantial. I don't need to hold it to lather the soap. The bowl stays in place because of the weight.The bowl has a small flat area at the bottom that is going to be smaller than your shaving soap. If you don't like your soap moving around in the bowl, you may have to reshape it to fit.You can do this by grating your soap into fine pieces and then compacting it back in the bowl and adding a bit of water.

This shaving bowl has a solid feel and seems beautiful to me. It's quite heavy. The shape works very well for shaving.

As the review said, as expected. Nice pretty marble bowl. Works well and is heavy for it's size, will not tip over while whisking. Rubber bottom for no skid. Approved.

I was initially drawn to this marble shaving cream bowl because of its elegant design, and it certainly adds a touch of class to my shaving setup. The marble has a nice weight to it, making it feel solid and high-quality. It looks great on the bathroom counter!However, the bowl is smaller than I anticipated based on the pictures. As a result, I often find myself clanking my shaving brush against the sides while trying to build a lather. Additionally, the base of the bowl is quite narrow, so despite the weight, I have to hold it in place while lathering. It would have been more convenient if it had a wider base for better stability.While this bowl excels in style, its small size and narrow base make it less practical for everyday use. If you're primarily after aesthetics, it’s a great choice, but be aware of the functional limitations.

If you fill the bowl with water and nuke it for 45 seconds and let your brush soak for a minute or two and then leave a little water in the bowl and mix soap or cream you will have a great shave. I removed the pad under the bowl as you don't need it. Very pleased with this marble bowl. Very well crafted. Stays hot for a long time. Enough for several passes.

I added this to a new black steel blade holder and soap bowl set. I kept the steel bowl that came with the set, but this really looks classy on the counter. It is very quick to simply dunk your new Synthetic Brush in Hot water and swirl the hot brush in the soap that you have put into this marble bowl. I simply scoop the soap from its original packaging, and it fits perfectly in this Marble bowl. It looks professional, and it fits perfectly under the brush when it hangs in the holder of the set.This is really worth the extra few bucks to add style. I don't plan to travel with it.

Nice quality and it looks great on the vanity.

My wife bought me this as a present. It is very heavy and attractive, but the size is not as advertised. As you can see from the pictures, the inside measurement is not 4" and it's not 3" in height. The inside is about 2" deep. I'm not sure this will hold a Van Der Hagen shave soap very well. I may reorder and see if the next one is truer to size.
