Excellent when coupled with a pre-amp
I've got 30 years gigging and recording experience and have used many different after-market pickups in that time. This is one of the best, I have a lovely fully acoustic with crisp clear tones that I needed to electrify for small gigs. I didn't want anything that would require permanent mods. This fitted in easily, no need to slacken the strings, and it clamps into place tightly but without damaging the finish. The cable is long enough that it can reach my pedalboard and give me freedom to move around. I'm fine with it being a male jack rather than female so unlike others I have no intention of chopping and replacing the terminal. It's passive, which means 2 things - it requires no batteries but will also have lower output as a result. Those reviewers who are expecting the same volume output as an active / amplified pickup are just being unrealistic. You just need a decent pre-amp for live use. I run this through the excellent and inexpensive SONICAKE A Factory Acoustic Analog Preamp. This helps boost the signal but also gives some control over EQ shaping and it sounds awesome through my PA. The only reason I've given 4 starts not 5 for the sound it because you can get pickups that faithfully represent the exact tone and nuance of your guitar, but these cost a fortune and are generally only needed by the pro's who's tone is their signature. This gives me everything I need. Unlike some other pickups I've had it's also quiet and doesn't pickup unwanted handling noise from the guitar body. This is a very capable and solid bit of kit.

Good clear sound
Good clear sound. Easy to fit. Although there's a long lead to reach an amp, it's not difficult to fit a plug in the side of a guitar.

Good vfm - works fine
Fits easily - you just loosen it both sides then slip under the strings and tighten up - needs a Phillips screwdriver. I’m pretty impressed with the sound - I’ve tried i5 through to 20 w amps - was a bit thin through a guitar amp but sounded better through a bass amp. Good value for money

Works a treat
Having installed the Neo d a few weeks ago I’m delighted with the results. I reamed out a hole in the bottom of the guitar and installed it permanently via a new Endpin socket. Don’t try this with normal drills, you’ll rip the wood. Good output from a passive pup and no hum so long as you’re not on top of your amp. Played through a Fender acoustic amp, the sound is natural and not too electric sounding. I was going to buy an acoustic modeller to play through but I’ve found this unnecessary. Great product and great price.

Amplifier cable lets it down
Firstly what I liked , the Fishman pickup arrived promptly . The sound reproduction is quite hum free and clear . Now the down side , yes I said the sound reproduction is hum free and clear the volume on a 20 watt amp is not very loud , and if you play it on overdrive it distorts hisses and hums , not good . Another matter that irked me was the complete lack of any instruction on use and care of the pickup . But the main reason I gave it three stars is the bargain basement amp cable , Lots of other sound hole pickups I've used over the years have either the facility to plug and un-plug the amp cable into the pickup and or have a short length amp cable with a 1/4" socket so you could detach the guitar with the pickup fitted , which means your not constantly stuck with 3 metres of cable dragging around . As you can see from the photograph , I cut the cable leaving 18" of cable and fitted a mono 1/4" jack socket . I know this would render the warranty void , but it is a far far better set up , also it is then my choice what amp cable I use to connect to the amplifier .

Very highly recommended
Went by the reviews before buying this. Compared it to many other similar pickups, and this was far the better received of the lot. I was not wrong to put my faith in the reviews. This is a really good bit of kit that installed in 2 mins max. It does sit a little high but, I've not found that a problem yet. If I do, I'll simply lower the cork guitar body grips a little on each side. I use Logic software on a Mac and play my guitars directly into the software. The only one I couldn't was my acoustic guitar which was recorded using a mike (with all the background sounds that entails). Using this pickup, I note very little difference in the sound recorded (it still sounds just like my acoustic!!) but there's no background noise. If I were using this for gigging, I'd go for the humbucking version, but for quality and reality of sound, I cannot fault this little baby. Very highly recommended

Very Pure Sound
I am really impressed with the purity of the amplified sound with this pick up and as expected, it is well made. Colour is black, not the silver grey suggested in the photo. I do not have massive experience of acoustic pickups - a Faith with built in pickup and an Artec soundhole pickup I fitted myself. The Faith sounds fine but it suffers from bad feedback yet both the Artec and the Fishman don't. Comparing the latter two, the Fishman has a much cleaner sound, yet the Artec is louder, has a slightly dirtier sound (which could appeal to some) and has adjustable poles (at half the price). The Artec can also be easily fitted permanently by drilling a single hole for a Jack socket where the bottom strap pin is located. I have gold hardware on the guitar I was buying for but the Artec only has a chrome Jack socket (as far as I could find) so that really ruled out another Artec for me. I have, however, ordered a gold socket for the Fishman and intend to hard wire it into the guitar so I guess the same solution could have been applied to the Artec. I hate to see a cable emerging from the soundhole and in my view, Fishman should offer chrome and silver Jack sockets as options a la Artec's design. Lost a star for this and the fact that it is quiet in operation, meaning the amp has to be turned up relative to the Artec. I wasn't missing a fixing screw as some other buyers have reported, but it was clear that the pickup had been previously removed from its packaging, possibly a return, but it works fine.

Great product for a great price
I originally ordered this because it was cheap and I had nothing to lose! I was impressed at how easy it was to install, the chord does not get int he way of my playing. I will say don't expect this to capture the full tone of your acoustic, it sounds good (no buzz as in other reviews) but it sounds closer to an ovation than an acoustic electric, this is not a bad thing. It is a bit on the quite side but I ran it through an amp and pa system and I could get enough volume fairly easily to make it work live.

Captador de boca violão
Bom captador. Poderia ter a opção de plugue no captador para fazer uma instalação permanente sem necessidade de cortar o cabo.
