When one of the only real negatives is that the fly paper was too sticky, you have a great product.
When one of the only real negatives I can think of is that the fly paper was too sticky, then you know that you have a great product. I wasn't expecting these to be all that good, considering the price of these were roughly £3.50, I was beyond impressed. Firstly, I bought two packets, not realising that you get 8 in each box, so I haven't needed to open the second box. They are easy to use, however, they don't attract flys to them, to make sure you put them where the flys are already conjugating. When they were situated in the right places, these were perfect.Be careful when you're removing them, as like I said, they can be a little too sticky and the gluey substance can get all over you hands and require cleaning. But such a great product and superb value!!

Very effective
Very effective but you have to give them time ..you need to use a BB gun style ball bearing or similar weight to stretch them out but they do work well ..Once you get a few flies stuck on they seem to attract others so its more effective to leave them up a while ..They are messy to use and look a bit unsightly i agree but they do work well...where i live in summer you get loads of flies and i was driven mad by them until i brought these ..My only issue is the price has gone up quite a lot since i first brought them

Handle carefully! Loops can break.
They certainly work! Probably best in conjunction with fly spray - the sprays don't kill instantly as advertised but do seem to make the flies a bit dozy and more likely to fly into the papers. I found it most effective to put two papers near each other (3-5 inches apart) if possible, creating more of a barrier for the flies to hit. The loop broke on one which meant it couldn't be fully extended. Ugly but pretty effective.

Flies totally avoid them!
I was seriously hoping these would work as having the back door open during summer I was getting a lot of flies in.I had a two of them hanging up in my kitchen for a couple of weeks and not a single fly got caught on them!I reverted back to fly spray as it’s more effective albeit pungent and smelly! They are extremely sticky though but the strings unfortunately aren’t the strongest. If you do happen to break one and get the sticky stuff all over your hands/table top/units I recommend washing up liquid to help to remove it.I’m sure if you can get the flies to actually land on them then they would be very effective!(Definitely not nice to look at even without dead flies stuck to them!)Unfortunately they didn’t work for me!

It works
I bought these to deal with fungus gnats that were infesting my house plants. These sticky traps worked perfectly at killing the adult gnats. The flies were instantly attracted to the tape and within a few days the adult population around my houseplants had been decimated with over 30 gnats stuck to the tape. Note that killing the adults is only part of the solution, you have to kill the larvae in the soil as well (I used deciduous earth). Just be aware that the stickiness of these traps can be somewhat difficult to remove.

ABSOLUTELY AND TOTALLY USELESS AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!
ABSOLUTELY AND TOTALLY USELESS AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! After hanging one of these due to the accumulation of a number of annoying fruit flies they just landed on it and walked around. NOT A SINGLE ONE STUCK even after 5 days! It was like I could almost hear them laughing at me as they happily landed on it and took a stroll then took off again. It's not like I received an old batch that had dried out as they are still sticky to the touch, but obviously not nearly sticky enough. As fruit flies represent the smallest, weakest and lightest of the species it only confirms the products total and utter incompetence. I have never had a problem with unbranded ones in the past and thought a well known name brand would work. How wrong I was. As a result I will be boycotting the brand and suggest you do the same. Why companies release products with apparently no testing whatsoever never fails to amaze me. I have no idea what the other reviewers are reviewing it certainly wasn't this product.UPDATE: Now after 8 days a handful of flies have stuck but very few and I purchased another brand PARTSHIELD Fly Catchers, a link to which can be found below, so I can do a direct comparison test: These are VASTLY superior and the glue like substance is 3 times as thick. The Rentokil ones have a very thin coating and there are patches with no glue at all. With the PARTSHIELD papers the flies are instantly stuck where they land and are unable to walk around or fly off again. In 2 days there are ten times as many flies stuck to the PARTSHIELD brand in comparison to 8 days of the Rentokil. Buy these if you want something that works!NOTE: I generally don't like killing any creature (although I could think of a few humans lol) but have a problem with flies as they spread filth and disease, landing on food surfaces and puking and rubbing their legs together depositing whatever they have previously landed on etc (ewww). So they must be dealt with and not only are fly papers the non toxic way of doing so (sprays etc defeat the object as they not only add serious toxins to the air which you and any pets will breathe in but also coat the food preparation surfaces with poison too, even worse effect than the flies!) but they are also the best option KARMICALLY as it is the flies themselves who make the decision to land on the paper. Yes they don't look that great but if you hang them over the bin they are out the way then snip the cord into a plastic bag or the bin when full.
