Terrific roaster. Great results!
I’ve roasted several points with this roaster and love it. I had the smaller Korean round roaster and definitely prefer this one.

It's okay.
I'm agreeing with another reviewer that this roasters flaw is the opening is held by one screw. One can tighten it well but there is always that risk of spilling all of your beans everywhere, and wasting one's time. I dont dare shake the roaster too vigorously because I dont want my beans exploding all over. This has lead to some inconsistent roasting as well.Would i buy it again if I could? Most likely not.

Faulty design
There is a major flaw in this product. As you can see the top portion is held on by a single screw, tightened by hand. There remains a gap at the bottom when sealed, and the chaff falls through and catches fire, so if you're indoors, you're left with lots of little sparks flying up rapidly as you're roasting. The second issue with this design is that the only thing holding the cap on is the strength of the hand-tightened screw. It's a slot that it slides into, not a hole, so what happened to me, on my third roast, just as I went to check the beans, the end cap fell off and all the beans went spilling onto the open flame and stovetop. I won't be able to use this anymore.. it's not safe.

If you love coffee and have a gas stovetop, then you have no excuse for not owning this!
Wow, I'm blown away by this simple coffee roaster!!! There's absolutely nothing fancy about this little guy, but it's genius. It fact, bang it up a little, and it looks like something you'd see in a WWII museum that was US standard issue gear. But make no mistake, this thing can perfectly roast coffee and you're in complete control of the process. If you don't have natural gas, then I can't make any guarantees. But if you do, then buy it immediately. Most roasters cost $$$, but this does just as good a job as my $300 Behmor 1600 for ~$60 albeit with much smaller batches. 40g of green coffee makes about 34g roasted, so spend 10-12min each night roasting and you'll have enough for 2 of the freshest possible espresso shots in the morning that'll be better and way cheaper than anything you can get from a coffee shop. Just take a look at the picture of the results from my very FIRST try roasting with this thing. The handle is long enough that you don't need to wear any sort of protective glove, and the slight curve makes it ergonomic to hold as well. The vented cover also prevents chaff from getting all over your stove while you're roasting. Just keep shaking it a little over the flame and raise it to the overhead vent once it get's smokey at second crack. Again, the simplicity blows me away. Why does every kitchen not have one of these? Quit spending $10-$15 or more for a pound of roasted coffee that's probably already stale and just buy green coffee for about $6 a pound. This thing will pay for itself in a couple months. Oh and don't forget to pick up a good grinder too. Welcome to truly fresh roasted coffee! You'll never go back
