Red Hot - Recorder Tutor 1 | Beginner Recorder Method Book with Play Along CD | Step by Step Recorder Lessons for Kids and Students | Sheet Music Songbook for Music Class or Home Practice : Sarah Watts: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Wish I had this when I was learning to play the recorder! - Back in the day, we were learning the recorder by listening, screeching and more screeching. This book is very well laid out to teach absolute beginners how to read music and play the recorder. The book teaches note values, rest values, tempo, simple Italian music terms, everything you would expect to know to learn to read music. The tunes on the CD are catchy and well-structured. Preparing the student for practice (with a slower paced practice track) and then when confident, for performance (same piece but at a substantially quicker pace), these are set out in a logical step-by-step approach which are engaging. Tracks 7 and 8 are just two examples (of many) of this great teaching technique. Student (6 years old) struggled at first and then after some practice, was delighted and proud to be able to play the "performance" track. Highly recommended. Review: Takes the pain of practice away! - Bought for my six year old - recorder practice had been ordered by the school so following weeks of denial I ordered this. Although the first few lessons only focus on a couple of notes, playing along to the CD makes it all much less tedious (and easier on the eardrums)!

A good purchase
My 10 year old requested this as they use this book at school. Not being a great fan of the recorder myself, I wasn't keen, but he has practiced lots and he sounds really good now. I think the CD definitely helps. Would recommend without reservation!

Perfect
Bought a copy as was the book being used in our six year old's recorder lessons at school. Clear descriptions inside and seems a very logical approach to initially learning to play the recorder.

It was for my child and so far so good, used in school. Although it came on a Sunday and then I missed the delivery because I wasn't aware that they delivered on Sunday.

I bought this book because it said it included the CD. There was NO CD!! Very upset about that! I love the book itself, just very upset that the CD was not there!!!
