Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked The World

Definitely worth watching
I came across this film on Prime Video and I have to say that in my 77 years on Earth this is one of, if not the best documentaries I've ever had the good fortune to see. This film is a great history lesson for anyone and a must see for those who love Rock, Blues and Jazz. There was so many uplifting moments as well as heart wrenching information that I wasn't aware of and had never come across in any of the history books that I've read.I seldom purchase DVDs anymore but I purchased this one shortly after I viewed it.

History that was not taught in school.
This is an excellent historical DVD about Native culture, their contributions, and stolen legacy. Young folks should pay attention to the excellent interviews with the original Americans. I've watched it two (2) times and plan to have a family gathering to watch it again with me for discussion. Not only is this DVD educational, but it is also excellent entertainment.

Extraordinary film!
This is an extraordinary documentary about the contributions of American Indians to both rock n' roll and the music of the United States. As stated elsewhere, this America de los Indios, like any other land has its own unique song in its heart and soul, the indigenous people who have inhabited it for more than 15,000 years, its spirituality, hopes and dreams, and the courageous struggle to survive Euro-American genocide. Link Ray, Redbone, Buffy-Sainte Marie, the late Robby Robertson, and many, many others have enriched the music and culture of this nation for centuries. Also, Mexicans are an indigenous people! Mexico had 80% (80 million) of the estimated 100 million when Europeans invaded; and even today, it has more indigenous and mestizo people than all the continent of American put together. This doc should be shown in schools, community centers, and to ethnocentric politicians.

The Ancestors Speak
Powerful for anyone, not just Native peoples. I was amazed that there were any negative reviews. For those who castigate the documentary for being about Native musicians of mixed heritage & not "full-blooded" Indians, almost all the Native Americans I know are of mixed ancestry (on & off the Rez) & the influence of all their heritage is reflected in their music. For those who say that the players shown were not influenced by the Native music of their Ancestors shoes a gross lack of understanding & undervaluing how the drum, flute & calling is central to people from all tribes. Even if they have "lost touch". The land itself sings in their blood & influences & is central to the music they play. I thought this was well-done & although their are many other well-known Native American musicians that this documentary does not cover, it would simply be impossible even if the documentary was much longer (although I would have liked to have seen Walela included). RIP John Trudell. You were the voice for many of us.

Fascinating eye-opening for music lovers and education about heartbreaking injustice
I highly recommend this documentary to anyone who has ever wondered where modern American music comes from. This is documentary is so well put together, very tasteful, emotional, and informative.I had so many questions that I had in my life - all answered in this one documentary.Heartbreaking and disgusting actions by racist colonial occupationists visible in the actions of the Ku Klax Klan. It explains the Jan. 6th insurrection as well.It explains Standing Rock ("Dacota Access/Keystone Pipeline")and the current battle surrounding The Oak Flats in Arizona ("Line 3").Native Americans are the sacred history of this beautiful land - huge respect and huge reparations are OVERDUE to both American Natives and of course descendants of slaves.I wish for this documentary to become essential education in every music class and history class.Music is culture, without music we do not understand the people.Bless everyone who worked on this documentary.Very very well done!
