I recently started using Mystic Moments Cetyl Alcohol Wax Beads (100g), and they have quickly become a staple in my routine, particularly for customised hair care. Ideal for Hair Care Formulations As a beginner, I’ve discovered these beads are a total game-changer for shampoos and conditioners. • Superior for Non-Porous Hair: Unlike cetearyl alcohol, which can be quite heavy and waxy, cetyl alcohol is much lighter. It provides incredible slip and conditioning without weighing down the hair or causing buildup, which is essential for those with fine or low-porosity strands. • Scalp-Friendly: It’s kind to sensitive skin. If you struggle with scalp irritation from heavy commercial products, formulating with this fatty alcohol offers a gentle, soothing alternative. A Note on Skincare & Body Butters During my 2025 experiments, I did try incorporating these beads into my body butters. While they provide a lovely "silicone-like" velvety finish and a matte-like slip that absorbs quickly, I found they weren't the best fit for my specific skin type. Because I have very dry skin, the finish was a bit too lightweight; I personally require the richer, more occlusive barrier that ingredients like cetearyl alcohol or heavier butters provide. However, if you have oily or combination skin, you would likely love the non-greasy feel this offers. 💡 Ease of Use & Practical Tips • The beads are small, white, and odourless, so they won't interfere with your essential oils. They have a melting point of approximately 54°C. • Important Note: Do not mistake this for a standalone emulsifier! While it’s an excellent thickener and co-emulsifier, you still need a primary emulsifying wax to bind water and oil successfully. • Melting: They melt smoothly in the oil phase without leaving any graininess behind. • Value For Money: The 100g bag offers fantastic value for money for anyone starting out. Fatty alcohols are typically used in low percentages (usually 1% to 5% of a total recipe), meaning this small bag stretches surprisingly far. It's the perfect amount to test several different recipes for shampoos, conditioners, and lotions without committing to bulk sizes that might expire before you use them up. It’s an economical way to elevate the texture of many different products. ✅ Pros: • Ethical & Clean: 100% vegan and GMO-free, perfect for ethical formulations. • Versatile: Excellent for "pumping up" the viscosity of conditioners to make them rich and pipeable. • Gentle: A non-drying fatty alcohol that is very kind to sensitive scalps. • Affordable Entry: The 100g size is excellent value for testing and learning. ❌ Cons: • Not for Very Dry Skin: Can feel a little too "lightweight" for those needing intensive moisture in body creams. • Size Limitation: Regular formulators will quickly exhaust the 100g bag once they perfect their favourite recipes. ✅ Verdict For anyone who started their formulation journey like I did in 2025, this is a must-have ingredient. It bridges the gap between "homemade" and "luxury," providing a weightless feel that is particularly brilliant for haircare, all while offering great value for money in the initial learning phase.

Used in my homemade body butter to make it thicker so I'm able to pipe. Came out lovely. Easy to melt. Nice and smooth in product. Will buy another very soon.

This is a good size and a good quality

I've been buying olive-derived emulsifying wax from this seller for about 8 years. I clicked to "buy again" as usual and got this product, which claims to be emulsifying wax but is obviously a different mixture. It seems to contain ONLY cetyl alcohol. I should have known as the appearance is small white beads instead of the usual bigger flakes. Result is I've had to throw away a litre of face cleanser as the oil & water did not emulsify. I will not use this brand again.

Non funziona né in acqua né in olio benché meno con entrambi, sconsigliatissimo.

I used this product for some DIY projects and found the product quality very good. It also comes in a good-sized package that lasts for a while but is still not too big.
