Electronics with a wooden feature are all the rage….the contrast of nature and machine works so well together. The designers at LSTN Headphones all have a musical background and so they wanted to design some headphones that would encompass the great acoustic qualities of wood and go with all their wooden instruments. Their over head Troubadour headphones do exactly that and look gorgeous in the process. They come in three natural woods; Beech, Cherry and Ebony, covering a spectrum of light to dark wood colours. As well as choosing your favourite colour you can rest assured that no other person on the planet will have headphones quite like yours because the wood grain is unique for every single pair made. What makes these headphones even more special is that for every pair that is purchased one child who is deaf or hard of hearing will benefit through LSTNs "Giving Back. Amplified" scheme. These headphones have received critical acclaim and the sound quality is great.

So I bought these headphones as a replacement for a broken set of Sennheiser Momentum's (much to chagrin), the first thing that hit me about was the look and build. These are absolutely beautiful! The light wood sheen makes them stand out a mile and the laser cut emblem is a nice touch. The headphone band is light and study with a decent room to adjust the size if you need and the overall build quality is excellent. To top it off the lead quality is excellent as well as the cord covering which I can't help but play with as I'm walking! Oh and should note they have a rather good mini mic on them for those annoying while you are in public calls (yes, you with the suit on the tube!)Now - sound qualityThe low frequency ranges are really good and clear, no distortion on the heavier tracks even when turned up, bass comes across clean and crisp. Though I'm not a hippity hop fan by any means, so would consider the cherry wood set for that heavier feel.Mid and high ranges are again very clear but never over powering, though there is a great treble edge to high vocals and also stand out mid ranges on certain tracks (- are you going to go my way - Lenny Kravitz) The guitar screams out loud and clear, followed by sharp drums and punchy bass driving the sound all together.ComfortThe only down side I'm afraid. These things look absolutely amazing but even with smallish ears, 2/3 hours of wandering around listening or sat at your desk leaves a substantial pain around my ear which was made to feel like it had cramp due to being squished. The wood panel and tight padding (comfortable in itself) seem to be fine over short periods, but longer it does start to hurt and you'll need a break.Pros +Great lookingFantastic Sound (all ranges)Great build QualityHigh end lead cable (though some say too short!)good mini micCons -Can be uncomfortable after some longer periods of use (maybe it's my ears!)No volume controlOverall, I love them and have had lots of comments from audiophiles to try them. Plus who doesn't want to make a charitable donation when you are buying something as cool as these!
