I see age is for 18months-99 years. Why isn't a person aged 100 allowed to use this? Is it unsafe or to complicated?

Are the puzzle pieces thick card board or flimsy?

Hi, they are made of thick cardboard.Also, one thing that surprised - and disappointed me - is that all puzzles are cut out by bands.So the 3-piece one is cut in 3 vertical bands, the 4-piece one is 4 vertical bands etc.I didn't think that made it very interesting for little ones. Sorry I've been digressing but thought I would point it out!

I read a review that they come in vertical strips not in usual jigsaw shape pieces, is this true?

Yes that's right. The vertical strips have three usual jigsaw shaped connectors that join each piece together. It's just that they don't have 4 connectors.
