Got doubts?!
So my Desktop computer year 2000 rather basic Cambridge Soundworks speakers suddenly gave up - but what to replace them with? The current computer has High Quality Realtek soundcard. I need small-ish size, don't want an additional amp, those USB ones mean less power requirement. I could go for those modern looking superslim tower things, but how much better will they be for £80? Subwoofer? - my toes don't require a sonic massage. Uses? mostly internet radio, youtube for 80s memories, Skype and the occasional CD. The USB ones seem to have very low power and some problems. I didn't want to spend £15 and then feel short-changed, then came across these, with low-ish cost and high output, look good in pictures. Well worth I try, I thought..... Against: short cables but fine if main system box is on desk, bit of jiggling if not, I know longer cables can be bought. Power switch at back rather than on front (I'll get used to it) For: Look good, feel well made and sturdy. I'd say excellent performance for the size. I'm not an expert but bass is clearly there, volume will never need to go high, so no distortion at the lower levels. Clarity much better than previous. Delivery - coming up to New year 2013, ordered 29th Dec at 1am, delivered 1pm today, 31st Dec - on standard saver delivery! (Gadget Shop was the supplier, thanks!)

Ricco 2.1 Karaoke system
Bought for my daughters birthday as she loves to sing and really wanted a Karaoke machine. I looked at a few of the usual branded ones but for the price I could of bought a full stereo system until I found this one. Upon arrival the system was well packaged. The speakers were easy to connect to the main unit as well as the power lead, also a audio lead is supplied so you can plug in a device with a 3.5mm earphone hole, I plugged in my Samsung S4, my telly and an old mp3 player and both worked on this system. There is also a SD card slot, this slot is for a large SD card not a micro, so a large SD card is needed or adaptor which is 94p on Amazon. The sound from this unit is awesome, the subwoofer is built in to the unit and the speakers give out a fair whack without being turned up to full volume, the bass is good and doesn't go all farty with bassy tracks at full volume. There are 2 microphone ports so you can sing duets and both have adjustable volumes. Now for my daughter's most favourite feature and that's the built in disco lights on the front display. There are different settings for these lights from noise activated to preprogramed setting, all adds to the Karaoke experience. The look of the unit and speakers is very nice and only slightly darker red than in picture shown.

but the active speaker has a terrible hissy crackling from it
The passive speaker was clear, but the active speaker has a terrible hissy crackling from it, which completely ruined the quality of the sound. Stay away from these. Look for some H50BT by MicroLab, even 2nd hand will be better than these. The quality is superb.

Ricco Speakers
Not too bad. Sound quality is good (better from the computer than from MP3 player), rich and deep with good definition across the spectrum. Good for watching video on the computer and for playing music from the interweb but a disappointing lack of volume. This isn't so much of a problem for 95% of my listening as the Home Secretary only moans if I make anything in the house rattle but, from time-to-time, it would be good to let the neighbours share in my musical tastes! Seriously though, good value speakers, great supplement to my lap-top, does make the viewing experience far better than similarly priced plastic jobbies but they are not going to shatter any window panes. Despite this, I do think that they are very good value for money and don't regret the purchase but, next time, may invest in some higher wattage for when the wife is out! For normal use, I would have given them five stars but the lack of real volume must mean a mark down to three.

Great Value
Just received these speakers and have to say I'm very impressed. Even before opening the box I was pleasantly surprised how heavy it was. These speakers are very nice looking, have a quality feel and definitely don't disappoint when you listen to them. I tested them at 50% PC volume and 50% volume on the speakers and that was loud! The sound quality is very good too. I haven't tried the USB or SD card playback. In summary, these speakers are in a different league to your normal budget computer speakers and based on my experience so far I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Great product for the price
I also noticed that all the early reviews were submitted at the same time. I decided to take a punt because the speakers look great and come at the right price. I received them really quickly and am very happy with my decision to take the risk. I bought them as replacements for a Logitech "surround sound" system that was around the same price - these are way better! Much fuller sound, much louder, far better looks and no separate subwoofer taking up space. The only drawbacks are the short leads and the lack of variable base (that said, the base seems to be at a pretty good level for my tastes, which include hip-hop and dance, despite drowning out the mids a little). Great buy.

Amazing for the price!
I didn't know what to think what with people saying there was fake reviews on this page but I decided to take the plunge, I sold my old speakers to my girlfriend for £26 and ordered these, they arrived quickly (amazon prime!) and when I got them they did not feel cheap whatsoever, I plugged them in and they sound outstanding for the price, for something to sit on your desk and look stylish they are a steal at £26 with free postage, if anybody was unsure if they were a scam or not I can say safely these are great, cheap speakers (worth £60 on Ricco's site) but the only complaint was the cable was too short connecting the R and L speaker, so I would invest in an extender if you have a wide desk or more than one monitor like me.

Excellent sound from such small low priced speakers
I purchased these speakers purely on the strength of the good reviews. I was looking for a smallish portable set of speakers to take with my laptop in order to get some decent sounding music on our French Gite holidays without getting involved with ipods and the like. I was not disappointed having heard far worse sounds out of far more expensive systems at that well known large electronics chain. I really don't understand the two negative reviews but there we are. I am absolutely delighted with them - These speakers really punch above their weight. They are well made and they look nice too.
