Great product, love it!
I used to game on the sofa, with a solid mouse mat on the right arm and it was great, however we had to rearrange our living room layout, so now my wife is on the right side of the sofa and gets to use the sofa arm for her mouse. She managed to game before with a full size keyboard on her lap and a really small mouse space. I tried it and hated it, so I bought a Roccat SOVA instead. First impressions, its really heavy, quite wide, well constructed, and the mouse bungee cord is absolutely required to stop the mouse falling off as soon as you take your hand off it. The base is well padded and comfortable. The keyboard layout is slightly cramped, but the spacing between the keys is fine. The backlighting is bright as well, which I appreciate after being used to a Razer Black Widow mechanical backlit keyboard for a few years now. The mechanical keys feel pretty nice to use, the space bar maybe feels a bit mushy, but it's not a major issue. Having 2 USB ports is good, I only use one for the mouse at the moment but I imagine anyone using a USB headset will find it useful. My headset is wireless so I don't really require the 2nd USB. The mouse surface feels great, it tracks perfectly with my Logitech G502 mouse without any issues. The surface area is pretty large, and I have no issues running out of room. The detachable cable is a great feature. I use this a lot as I now do a lot of gaming from my racing sim rig which now houses my monitor, gaming chair and buttkickers for tactile feedback. The rig is a bit awkward to get in and out of, so being able to detach the lapboard and put it to one side is great, and saves the cable getting needlessly tangled. The wrist rest is solid, slightly textured and comfortable for long gaming sessions, and has a decent surface area, the sloped edge means my wrists aren't resting on a solid edge. The leg pads underneath are really comfortable, and feel just the right thickness to be comfortable but not obtrusive. The only improvement I would like is a something on the back your fingers can hold onto easier when you pick the board up from the floor. I usually leave it propped up against the wall by my sim rig, and when I pick it up the lack of something to grip, and the heavy weight of the board make it a struggle to pick up 1 handed, even with my gym arms. Having an indent or ridge on the back would go a long way to curing this small niggle. I'm really happy with my purchase, its just about perfect for what I need and would recommend it to anyone.

excellent for the couch
first impressions are the lapboard is big , not too heavy and the cushions are well made , it fits on the lap securely and is comfortable for long gaming sessions , one thing that is not obvious is the lapboard needs two usb sockets not one so you might want to check if you have two free . one irritation you will have is the lapboard on first use will have the keys flashing repeatedly with no way of making them stay a solid colour ! the solution install the swarm driver first and look for the illumination tab when the lapboard is plugged in there you will be able to stop the flashing . its a great product , well made and works well with my roccat mouse , a great buy

Mechanical keys certainly not near infinite as stated
I've had my Sova for a couple of years and it has been good, just when they state near infinite keystrokes and I have (despite cleaning fully) an A, N and CAPS key that just miss around 40% of the time?, one key is cracked slightly underneath and 3 or 4 the black has worn away yet they are not replaceable. Ultimately they lead you to believe the keyboard will last 6 years plus but in reality it just isn't true and when it does break theres not a lot you can do about it, keyboard should have been removable or keys made available!

Great Hardware, Awful Software
The actual device: The device is really well engineered. It feels solid, and is weighty enough that it won't slip about while light and well padded enough that it is comfortable to have it on your legs for extended periods. The keyboard is pleasantly tactile - I haven't used many mechanical keyboards but this was certainly a good keyboard with plenty of feedback for presses. The wrist rests are very comfortable and I found that, at least for my frame, the optimal position to use those rests also meant I was sitting up straighter and therefore healthier. The mousepad is large, and the included anchor for it is a fantastic idea that stops it from slipping around too much. One thing that wasn't made totally clear i that this does take up two USB ports rather than just the one. The Software: The Roccat swarm software seems, unfortunately to be pretty horrible. I was initially impressed by features such as connecting your phone to allow monitoring of CPU/GPU temps, network traffic, etc, but as another review mentions, immediately after install it set up a scrambled configuration for the keyboard and it was only after deleting this and making a new, default profile for the keyboard that I regained the ability to press keys that I had. The break-away cable is long and breaks away easily before any damage can happen. Even worse, I was getting massive lag spikes playing overwatch, which after some googling, seems to be due to the Roccat swarm software, and after exiting it overwatch returned to normal. Luckily, you can set a profile as your desktop profile in swarm, then close it, and retain key-bindings. Conclusion: With the preorder bonus of the mouse, this was a fantastic value compared to the competition, and seemed less compromised in design. I really like this unit and am actively looking for excuses to use it - games that fair better with KBaM input than controller. However, that bonus did make it better value, and while I feel it is still better value than competing products, it's quite a lot to pay for a non-cherry switch mechanical keyboard.

Excellent
I recently purchased a new SFF Windows PC for my man cave. The PC is hooked up to a HD TV and I sit on a funky sofa about 8 feet away. This is a new setup for me and having tried the traditional wireless keyboard and mouse arrangement for a couple of weeks, I realised this just doesn't work on a sofa. After a mighty amount of research I determined that the Sova was the better bet in a field with only three real choices. In terms of what I wanted I've been blown away by the Sova. It's comfy, not too heavy and a decent size. Even though I opted for the cheaper mem option, the keyboard is accurate and effective. I like the fact there is no numpad. The mouse mat area is grippy and a good size. It also comes with a groovy bungee attachment to stop your mouse slipping away. Be aware that the Sova will require two usb ports. Basically this is an awesome product and I'm well chuffed!

So close but drops the ball at the final hurdle.
This item is so close to being perfect but it just misses the mark. The board itself is very comfortable to use and the keyboard works amazing. I purchased the mechanical version as I love those clicky keys! The down point which made me return the product was the mouse side. The mat is huge which I loved but the surface is a shiny plastic and it makes it very annoying for keeping the mouse on the board. After a period of sitting ones buttocks do go to sleep requiring a bit of shifting to wake them up and get comfortable again. The minute you try and move and the board moves with you that mouse is going to slide right off and land on the sofa, your lap or the floor. I know what your thinking it doesn't sound like much but believe me after chasing the mouse multiple time over multiple days it just got annoying. I really hope Roccat release a v2 of this board and change the mouse mad texture, this would then be a 5 star product. The whole "sofa gaming" thing is still out of reach but this product does bring it that big closer.

Great lapboard for sofa PC gaming!
I bought this lapboard after watching several reviews online which heaped praise on it. I'm very happy to report this praise is greatly deserved. The Sova is a great solution to the problem of using a computer on your TV from the comfort of your sofa. It's a good manageable size, with decent build quality. Mechanical keyboard is good and I would definitely recommend this over the membrane if you can afford it - better gaming and typing experience for sure. Mousepad area is the perfect size, and I've never found myself wanting more room. The grip at the top of this area works well to stop the mouse falling off when moving around, and the cable management space is cleverly designed to accommodate plenty of wiring - I've got my headset and mouse cables tucked away neatly. Software leaves a little to be desired, not quite as polished as some of the others out there, but is generally unobtrusive - you can set everything up to your liking once and just leave it in the background for the rest of the time. All in all, this is a well thought out and smartly designed lapboard, which has been excellent for gaming and using my computer in general over the past few months of having it. Highly recommended.
