Who knew this fixed slipping CD drive belts?
The venerable Yamaha mini hifi had given sterling service, but the CD drawer wouldn't open anymore. Being a tinkerer, rather than replace for £300, I opened it up, cleaned it etc and thought about changing the tray drive belt, but didn't because a similar repair on a cassette deck hadn't worked. THe CD drawer still didn't open after the clean but a bit of Googling suggested this stuff might work. As I also had a squeaky transmission drive belt in the car I thought I'd get some anyway. Somewhat to my surprise it works very effectively. You don't need much. Just a quick spray. The drive belt feels a bit stickier at first and then dries out. OPens at the touch of a button now, as before. Now for the car.

Good temporary fix.
Cost to undertake a belt replacepment and potentially tensioner pulley excessively expensive , I will need to do this job in the future however, the original belt shows no signs of cracking etc. Spray works well but is not instant takes a few miles and or a couple days running before the belt runs quietly. Has been running very quietly for several weeks.

To be despite leaving a sticky mess it does work fine but only lasts for about a week when slip ...
I used this for a new fan belt which slips for about 1 min or 2 after a cold start. admittedly I should replace the pulleys as the car is 15years old but I thought I would give this a try. To be despite leaving a sticky mess it does work fine but only lasts for about a week when slip started to reoccur. I was not expecting miracles of course but thought it would last longer than a week. I will now have to purchase white spirit to clean if all off the belt and engine surrounds before considering replacing the pulleys themselves which is a lot of time and effort

Yeah like it I like it alot
Good stuff belt just started to make some noise not much mind but enough to make my car sound old if you know what I mean. anyway I got a can of this stuff as didn't want to go down the old school route of using hair spray . I have to say it worked a treat truck sounds like it was when new. Ok so while truck was running I sprayed the top side of the belt not tones but not sparingly either a good coat . Then I stopped said truck an sprayed the groove side of the belt where seen an where I couldn't get the belt groove's I sprayed the grooves on the pulleys bonnet down ran truck five ten minutes ( to local shops) job done will it last yeh I recon so top tip degrease bet first if needed I use that yellow stuff .

Tighten belt fully!
Very fast (next day) delivery of Hycote Belt Dressing Spray. Before I used it on my squeeling and useless Power Steering Pump belt, I gave an extra couple of turns of the Belt Tensioner screw, and the problem disappeared by itself!...So I cannot comment on whether the spray works or not, but at least I'm not faced with a Large Bill for new Pump...

Works, but only for a short time.
Works, but as you would expect wears off after a few days. But useful as a temporary fix.
