As with many things these days, parents really have to read and watch what the children are being subjected to. I ordered this book as simple reading for my grandsons, but made sure I read part of several subjects to make sure it didn't teach anything that went against our religion. I was very happy to see the parts I read were age appropriate and didn't seem to speak against things we are teaching the boys. I found it easy to read for most 4th graders and up. Good things for boys to know, some that parents sometimes assume they already should know. One interesting point I caught was how the author suggested that school is a boys first job. It is their 'job' to do their very best at this job. It will teach them things like the importance of getting along with siblings, doing chores doesn't mean you need to get paid - it's part of being a family where everyone has a job and contributes to make things easier for each member.

My 11 year old found some useful info for current situations as well as knowledge about things that are to come in the not too distant future. Not too in depth, but enough to give them a heads up. Perfect for tweens.

I bought this book for my grandson who is about to be 13. I hesitated because I was afraid it would be a boring read. I looked through it when it got here and was so impressed. The sections (if that's the right way to describe them) are short - one or two per page. Its enough to get the point across without boring a kid. The way different subjects are addressed really describes the situation in every day terms while helping the kids to understand. I just sent it to my grandson today but I'm anxious to get his feedback.

Grandson didn’t read, didn’t even look at it

I just lost my review & am too ill to rewrite it! So, in a nutshell, the book has some sound advice, but also feels somewhat New Age-y. As I am Christian, that takes away from it's reliability. The ability to be understood varies. Some parts a tween can easily understand, others even I had to re-read, so don't just hand over the book & expect the child to read & understand it on his own. I am unable to read this w/ my Grandson, so IDK how this will be dealt w/. Basically, I am undecided. I will have to re-read it when I'm well, then decide.

This is a great book for your teen boy. Lots of helpful information like important skills to learn about life and things like hygiene, confidence and roles and responsibilities.
