Great Oyster Knife
Opinel is a good brand and I own another of their knives, despite which this item was even better than expected. The blade is relatively short and thicker than the usual blades. It is also only sharpened on one side near the tip. This means it is great for levering open oysters and cutting the flesh free from the shell.A tip though - hold the base of the blade rather than the handle when opening the shell. This gives greater control and also avoids pressure on the hinge of the blade.

Opinel are the best knives in the world.
I collect opinel knives, I have sooooo many now. Some are kept in a cabinet to display. But many are used. I always carry one. They are not weapons, but practical tools. The opinion oyster shuck lives up to the standard. I must admit to having only used it for mussels n scallops- but close enough right!!

Great knife. No booklet.
It locks open: like other opined knives, you lock it by turning the ferrule. It works perfectly. It is well made and a nice thing to own.

This is the most robust of the opinel range
I sharpened mine, honed on a whetstone, but they come blunt as oyster openers. Which they are the best for. Thicker blade than your usual opinel. Same strong handle.

Cut myself
I’ve used a regular fixed oyster opener but fancied this knife . As I opened my first ouster the knife flipped shut and my finger bled beautifully . Oysters are sometimes tough to open but the knife shouldn’t be quite so flippy!

Excellent knife.
Arrived on time, used immediately. Perfect for the job and very well made, excellent for the price. To those reviewers that complain it's not sharp, 'THAT'S HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE.' The knife is not for cutting it's for opening shellfish, the blade doesn't need to be sharp.

Blunt as my d***
This knife came as defective, it was not even sharpened! It couldn't even cut a single piece of paper. I couldn't return it because we had already attempted to sharpen it on a grinding wheel.VERY VERY POOR product - either I am unlucky or bad batch. Avoid.
