Q: Is this dishwasher safe?

We have put our in the dishwasher for over a year and they still work great! If the bottle is colored the color does peel off though

Q: instructions above say for cold beverages only? why is that? Can you use it for hot drinks?

I don't know if they changed the description but it says keeps cold for 24 hours and hot for 6 hours.

Q: Why is this not recommended for hot beverages

The steam from hot beverages would not work with the autoseal

Q: Does this water bottle have a straw?

No. It does not. In fact, you can't use a straw with it even if you wanted to. It has a button on the side of the lid that you press with your hand that you are holding it with to open the spout. Then you pour. Quite frankly, this is the only type of water bottle I will ever buy. IMHO, it works really well. But if you require a straw this is not the one for you.
