Chilla-Grilla Restaurant Grade Charcoal, 12kg Bag Lumpwood Charcoal

This item produces very little smoke especially once it's going, seems pretty easy to light and good quality with very little dust, durability is good and it burns for a long time. I'm not even halfway through the bag and I've already had 3 or 4 barbecues I would say this is great quantity and value for money I will definitely use this brand again

Probably the only lumpwood charcoal I buy. Fantastic quality. Reliably decent sized pieces. Burns well, and for a good time. I seldom see any issues unless it's a bag I've had in the shed over winter. Reliably use this with my bbq and ooni. I've tried a few other brands but they tend to lack the consistency in piece size or how well it burns.

Ok, I've been buying the non restaurant grade for a year now and decided to try this out given it's the start of summer. The difference is crazy! In this bag you get HUGE chunks, so big you have to break them down for something like a kettle BBQ. I'll never go back to non restaurant grade anymore.

There’s really not a great deal to say about this, which is probably exactly what you want from a bag of charcoal. It lights well, burns consistently, gives off plenty of heat and we’ve cooked a couple of pizzas with it very successfully. You get a decent amount in the bag for the money and the pieces are a good size and quality. Is it life-changing charcoal? No. Did I stand admiring it and wonder where it had been all my life? Also no. But it does exactly what it says on the bag, works perfectly well and represents good value for money. Sometimes a product doesn’t need bells, whistles or a lengthy review — it just needs to do its job. Good charcoal, good price and about as charcoal-y as charcoal can get. I’d happily buy it again.

Why waste your money on the rubbish charcoal chips they sell at Tescos or B&Q? This stuff is much, much better. Sure it's more expensive but it comes in a large 12kg bag filled with big chunks of charcoal, not the dust you usually find in the supermarket stuff. It lights well (I use a chimney) and is ready to use in about 20 mins. A bit of smoke at the beginning but that's more the paper I use to light with. After that, it burns clean with no smell other than delicious burning charcoal. It delivers excellent heat vs the supermarket stuff with a slower burn so you'll get more BBQ bang for your buck plus, it's delivered to your door! Would be excellent for a long, slow cook too but I haven't tried that yet. I'll never buy the "other stuff" again.

Don’t know what’s happened with this Product. Been buying this coal for a couple of years and absolutely swore by it recommended it to everyone. The last 4 bags I have had of it have been awful, all of the big bits of coal (which used to be the best bits) don’t even catch or burn anymore. Seem to have some sort of shiny surface and will not catch no matter what. Plus out of the 4 bags i recently purchased about a quarter of the bag has been too small to use, just broken up tiny bits so end up throwing quarter of the bag away each time, this over 4 bags equates to an entire bag of coal. Also when ready used to whizz round to 200, now hard to get it to even 120 when only some of the coal is catching. Used to swear by this charcoal but not any longer will go back to briquettes. Photo shows the large parts of coal left that won’t catch following a BBQ.

I haven't even finished my cook yet but I'm impressed. I had many big blocks, it heated up really well in my kamado and I can control the temperature so much easier that it makes me wonder why didn't invest sooner. It also heats it so much quicker with no nasty smoke that cheap stuff gives. I was using Weber briquettes before which wasn't cheap and didn't give nasty smoke but this just feels another level above.

As soon as I lit it I thought “this smells like a braai from backpacking in Africa!” So I googled what wood they use and it’s acacia, my nose is good! This is brilliant stuff, you can burn hot for a couple of hours of grilling and seering, or you burn low and slow for 8 hours in the Weber kettle with the snake or minion method for a brisket. The flavour that slowly soaks into the meat is sooo good! Amazing quality with a good mix of different sized pieces in the bag. I love it.

Soyez sûrs d'avoir une braise qui dure avec ce sac je le recommande. Tres bonne qualité de charbon mais prix élevé !
