About the Artist Produced by David Bowie & Mick Ronson (also handling guitar duties on all songs) 'Transformer' is Lou Reed's 2nd solo album, but the 1st containing new songs (his debut consisted reworks of songs he wrote in his VELVET UNDERGROUND days). 'Walk on the wild side' became a worldwide hit, despite (or because) its lyrics: the single was edited or banned in various countries. 'Transformer' is considered Lou Reed's signature album and includes his most known songs as 'Satellite of Love', 'Vicious' (inspired by Andy Warhol) & 'Perfect Day'. Rumour has it that, though not credited on the album, 'Wagon Wheel' is actually written by David Bowie. 'Transformer' ranks the Top 100 of various 'Greatest Albums of All Time' lists in the U.K. (NME, Q, HMV) and Top 200 from Rolling Stone Magazine.

Better than the later remastered pressing
This original copy was 150% the price of the contemporary remastered version but sounds 250% better so money well spent I reckon. The 180 gramme 2004 remaster I bought and returned sounds fuzzy - this version is clear as a bell and if you care about this sort of thing the cover art is way sharper to boot. Love it. Hey baby, take a walk on the wild side x

Great songs to sing along to..
Good album with humor. Light listening for a car journey. As a David Bowie fan could see similarities in the song writing and tunes.Still find Perfect Day brilliant..

Legend
I love Lou Reed. I love him in the Velvet Underground and I love him as a solo artist. This album is just genius. If you're into soothing music about transvestites then this is definitely the album for you. I think I have recommended it to all of my friends and am buying it for my secret Santa for this Christmas. I just cannot stress enough how much of a 'work of art' this album is. It is refined and sophisticated, especially Andy's Chest, which has been smartened up for to go on this album (although the original is still really good). My personal favorite is Walk On The Wild Side. Listen to it and you will see why. On the whole, though, and to sum up this review: buy the album if you're a fan of good music.
