Impressed
First the good, it's easy to use, it makes very good coffee, I used it to make what I call an Americano coffee fill a normal cup with the full amount of water from the expresso machine, I can easily do this because it is manual as far as the amount of water. I use it to make at least 3 to 4 cups a day. I have had it for over a year and a half, still the same as it was the first cup i made. i was a bit skeptical because some machines are like 600 bux and more to make expresso coffee but i am very happy i got this machine. One thing i often do it to push the button for the frothier to make the water hotter so as to reduce the foam of the coffee oils, not sure if that's an approved operation but i been doing it all along, I don't recommend leaving the button pushed because if you do you may get a smell of overheating. The only downside to the machine is that it's not automatic so you can't walk away from it while brewing or it will overflow. wait one more downside, but now they have fixed it in the newer model with a lower section that you can use to put a taller cup under it .

Great beginner machine - Love it!
I bought this when it was on a daily special so got a nice price on it. My first espresso machine, this one is really easy to use. Read the manual first. I recently got an email from the manufacturer regarding its use and what they were addressing I already knew from reading the manual. Now I’m obsessed and getting all the fun extras to compliment my machine; a frothing pitcher, a nice tamper (the one that comes with the machine is plastic and doesn’t work that well) and other barista gadgets. I’ve gotten good at frothing milk by watching You Tube; no end to newbie barista how to videos. Although this machine is little (12” x 8” footprint), it does everything I need it to do. The only reason I would graduate to a bigger machine is to get one that grinds my beans. For now, I keep my Illy Classico Espresso grind on auto-delivery from Amazon.

Does not make enough steam to heat milk!
If I could give it zero stars, I would. After using espresso machines, some pretty cheap, for the past 30 years, I understand how they are supposed to operate. This one has been a problem since day one. Every attempt to use it reveals a new issue, but I have never been able to get one cup of steamed milk out of it. Temperature doesn't get high enough, or green light never changes to solid, or no steam comes out, or steam comes out but is very squeaky and loud and runs out before the milk gets hot. It has been the most frustrating machine I've ever used and I regret paying over $200 for it. Functionality gets a zero. I should have sent it back right away but am now long past the return date.

Works ok a bit complicated though
It’s complicated if you want to do the foam with the machine. I haven’t even tried it yet. The espresso maker part is ok. I had a hard time getting the grounds holder into where it sets first. The area for the cup is very short

Pretty nice for the price
I was looking for an entry level espresso machine, and purchased this as it was a good price, and the other reviews were pretty good. Having no real experience with other machines, I can't base any kind of option on if it's good, but what I can tell you is it's easy to use, and with the right coffee, the right grind, you can get a pretty good cup of coffee. I use this daily, making at least 2 double shots every morning. One of the keys I've found to making really good espresso is having fresh ground beans, and a nice fine grind. I actually roast my own beans, and invested in a decent burr grinder, to get a consistent grind every time. Would I recommend this to anyone? Yes, I would, it's a good place to begin, and does everything you need it too.

Mostly well-made product, except for the plastics
The machine itself appears very well made and of very good quality; however, I was both disappointed and concerned with the brittle, thin plastic used for the reservoir and the hard plastic used for the ports where the espresso comes out. I’ll detail all my concerns: First, and of lesser concern, I can easily see the reservoir cracking if care isn’t taken due to the type of plastic it’s made with, particularly given that I tend to be tough on stuff. The reservoir also has a lid that can’t be removed. The arms which hold the lid onto the reservoir slide up and down and enable the lid to fold over and out of the way for cleaning the interior and for filling; but I didn’t like that there was no way to remove the lid and was concerned that the attachment points or arms themselves might break easily if I was not careful or in a hurry. My biggest concern, however, is health-related, due to the type of plastics used for the reservoir and on outlets or ports of the portafilter. The fairly thin (compared to that of my old machine) brittle, non-recyclable plastic of the reservoir has the feel of the cheaper plastic that breaks into pieces under pressure (vs merely cracking); meaning, in this case, the type that’s associated with leaching toxic chemicals, including BPA and PFAS. Both BPA and PFAS are known as “forever chemicals” because they do not break down naturally, will accumulate in the body and are associated with cancers, thyroid disorders, liver issues, low sperm count and other serious health issues. Not a good material to use when used for storage of the water. Also, there’s another type of hard plastic used for the ports of the portafilter where the espresso comes out. Given the high temps of the espresso, I was very concerned about the potential for leaching toxins that might be found in that type of plastic. I compared the Gevi reservoir and portafilter to that of my old, now-broken (DeLongi) machine which I’m replacing due to it having over-temped. The reservoir on my old machine was made of a thicker, sturdier and recyclable plastic which was far less concerning. The material used in my old machine’s portafilter ports where the espresso comes out appears to be a firmer version of the same heavy duty silicon or similar material that’s used for the ring that is located inside the filter where you put the grounds. Maybe they too leach, but compared to the type of plastic on this machine, it’s far less concerning. The bottom line: the type of plastic used in the Gevi was of such significant concern to me that I’m returning it. I likely will order a DeLongi which I started to order in the first place, unless I can find (and afford) a machine that preferably has glass or BPA-free plastic or other materials that aren’t so concerning. If Gevi would come out with future models that offered less concerning material, I’d not hesitate to buy their product, as the quality otherwise appears solid. I am just not comfortable given what I’ve mentioned which were deal breakers for me. Hope that helps.
