Jokari Soda Bottle Pump Pour Carbonation Fizz Keeper-colors may vary

I don’t know what other people are complaining about, it works fantastic though as the bottle gets lower, you do have to pump it more, but that is understandable. I have not had any problems with it. It seems durable even my dog grabs the bottle from the counter and didn’t hurt it. I can now leave my soda or Coke in the bottle and not have to worry about it going flat even if I just have about 8 ounces left. It never goes flat and I am glad because sometimes I don’t touch it for a while. where is if after I open a bottle I have to keep drinking it or it will go flat. This thing is great works properly when it gets down till about halfway you have to pump it about 50 times when it gets down to about 2/3 you have to pump it about 70/75 times, gives your forearm a little workout but I just switched arms. It is not bad at all. I love it and I will buy another one if something happens to this one.

This item did exactly what it is advertised to do, keep the fizz in my tonic water. Used half a liter of soda. Pumped it until the ball and bottl became firm, no more pumping could be done. Opened the bottle a week later and it was just as fizzy as when fresh opened. Not sure this would work well to have a small amount of soda several times, but it worked perfect on a half used bottle for a week. EDIT: After a few months I find that the device works great for saving a bottle that is half full or more for up to a week. Appears to only be really good for two uses, first opened and a day or 7 later I need to use all the soda or dump whatever I do not use. Trying to save soda for a third serving does not appear to work well, some fizz but not enough. Still like the product and will purchase another once this one wears out.

We drink a lot of carbonated drinks around here, especially during the hot months of summer (and in Atlanta, that means hot and humid). But the big problem is that a half-empty 2-liter soda bottle appears to loose about half of its carbonation after only a few hours, and by the next day it's almost all gone. Enter the solution: if the bottle is sealed and the air pressure in the bottle is increased, the there is less loss of carbonation. As the pressure in the bottle increases, the loss of "fizz" in the soda decreases. This device is a great idea and I've been using 2 of them for some time now. They DO make a significant difference. I did do one test on this issue and the results were very positive. I opened a new bottle of a soda [A well-known lemon-lime soft drink with very high carbonation, one which goes flat pretty quickly most of the time] and poured half of it into another bottle (call it bottle "B"), sealing the initial bottle (call it bottle "A") immediately after pouring 2 large glass of soda into glasses. At the same time I also replaced the original cap on bottle "B" (but did not pump it up). Then I pumped up bottle "A" with 100 "pumps." (yes my fingers got tired...) The bottle could probably have taken more pressure I think, because there was still some "give" to it when I pressed on it with a thumb. Then I put both bottles in the refrigerator and left them there for 24 hours. The soda in bottle "B" literally was not completely "flat" but it was so close to it that the difference would matter only to a researcher. However, the soda in bottle "A" (the one I pumped up) was still very well carbonated, and it was a lot more enjoyable than the soda in bottle "B" (as expected). Then I opened another (new) bottle of the same soda, and by comparison (this is subjective) I'd say that the soda which had been stored under pressure had retained probably a little more than half as much carbonation as the new bottle. So I am very pleased with these "Fizz-keepers" and will probably buy more of them. (BTW I did NOT try exploding a bottle by over-pumping it, but I am confident that this device would do just that if I tired...) PROs: 1. It keeps the carbonation fairly intact just as described on the web page. 2. It is possible to pour the soda from the bottle without removing this "stopper", saving time. CONs: (yes there are some, probably all non-issues) 1. Pumping a 3/4-empty bottle up takes a lot more time that I'm generally willing to use in doing so (also my hand gets tired). This are the breaks and I had expected that, so maybe it's a non-issue. 2. I have large dogs. When the cap is "released" to pour the soda, there is a loud sound as the pressure is suddenly released. While of of the dogs ignores that sound, the other goes berzerk and literally wants me to pick him up and "protect" him from it (With a small dog, that's easy. Try it with a 110-lb++ critter who is already excited and/or scared). So if you have large dogs who can be frightened by loud sounds, be aware that this can happen. (Not a major issue, but I try to be thorough..) 3. It wasn't invented 30 or 40 years ago. :-( 4. It isn't free. :-( 5. It doesn't work on champagne bottles. (Yes I know that there are other devices for that... :-) I will be buying more of these as needed, and I would recommend them to friends, family, and co-workers without hesitation.

This is the second one I purchased. It works great but they don't last. The pump ball tears open at the base after about a months worth of use. Just long enough so it can't be returned. Will not buy again.

Fabulous product, it keeps as much fizz in soda as if you just opened it I liked it so much I ordered 2 of them. If you have trouble squishing all the air out, get someone to help you, pumping as much air out as possible and you'll never have flat beverages again.

like everyone else here, i hate half-flat fizzy drinks. i only drink bubbly water. no soda -- it's terrible for you and makes you fat. and well oh ok... yes i do drink tonic water too when i simply must have some strong refreshing vodka drink because don't we all have those days?!! but i hate when half the bottle of fizzy water or other goes flat. just a total waste. i hoped these would be the answer, but unfortunately they are only GOOD and NOT GREAT. in concept, it definitely seems like they would work -- you add (too much) air back into the bottle, and that keeps the pressure and hence carbonation up. and although they do keep SOME FIZZ to my club soda, it is a VERY WEAK FIZZ. i've had this almost two weeks not, using it about 3x a day -- and STRENUOUSLY filling the bottle with air to capacity or even over capacity (with the theory that MORE air would definitely keep things as pressurized as possible). there IS a huge POP sound when i open the pump -- literally SOUNDS promising. but when i pour the club soda or fizzy water [this is when the bottle has been i.e., 50% full], there is just no snap to the bubbles. they're like... lazy bubbles. they don't have that robust refreshing tingle like a newly opened bottle. SO... although i think yes these do add air to pump up the bottle and keep some fizz... the intensity of the fizz is simply not not not and never will be as strong or refreshing as that of a freshly opened bottle. i guess all of this depends on HOW QUICKLY you finish the bottle. but i've noticed when the liquid contents get to the 50% of less mark, the carbonation even using this takes a rapid rapid decline in intensity and enjoyment. i WOULD RECOMMEND this if you tend to finish the beverage in your bottles quickly -- i.e. 2 days. i WOULD NOT recommend this if you take a small drink here, a small drink there, and it takes more than 2 days for you to finish you bottle of soda. my experience has been that after the 2 day and 50% mark, the bubbles simply aren't as refreshing or robust, and it taste and feels like you are drinking nearly-flat soda! side note #1. if you do not have a strong grip, you are going to find this very hard to use. it takes a lot of strength to smoosh this little ball down over and over and over to fill the bottle with air. i'm pretty strong but i did think i know several people who would not be able to continually squeeze this bulb to jam air in the bottle! btw i noticed it's easier to smash it with your palm than to squeeze it with your thumb, index finger and grip! side note #2. because i continued to research and try to find a solution for keeping my fizzy water fizzy... i think i'm now going to invest in a "soda stream" system. these are the home countertop systems where you buy a cartridge with co2 in it, and inject it into their soda / water bottles. i know several people who have them and 1) you can always inject new carbonation into your soda stream bottle -- so the contents are NEVER flat. 2) as i look at my bag of recycling for the week, i am mortified at the # of plastic water / soda bottles there. i don't even go all out with bottled or fizzy water, but i probably go through 5 1-liter bottles a week. and i am just looking at this pile of PLASTIC. even though i will recycle it, i've decided i just don't want to even cause the strain of manufacturing then recycling that much plastic all in the pursuit of fizzy water! something like soda stream is definitely a much much better way to go. you buy some of their water / soda bottles, and use the bottles in the system... over and over and over again -- and always have a fresh bubbly supply of soda water on hand. it's a significant way to end the amazingly wasteful cycle of plastic soda bottle manufacturing which takes up far too many resources whether recycled -- or even worse if it ends up a few million more pounds of very-slowly dissolving waste in a landfill!

I got a couple of these and I have tried them on big bottles and smaller bottles and so far so good. After a couple of weeks, I ordered a couple of more and they all seem to work just fine. I don’t know how long they may last, but for now they are working great.

For this to work perfectly, without leaking air and without tearing the pressure bulb; do not use the hinge feature, just gently tighten it onto and off of the bottle threads (not too tight or loose), pump the bulb with fingers touching only the top half of the bulb and use many small pumps to pressurize. To confirm that its screwed onto the bottle with the proper torque, use an empty bottle, pump the bulb to pressurize the bottle, place it under water; if its screwed on too tight or too loose you will see bubbles, tighten or loosen to stop the bubbles. If you still see bubbles, be sure the (hard to see) clear flexible seal between the bottle and the cap is seated properly. (Treated properly, it will last for years).

This is a misleading picture, it shows 4 of it and I am sent only one. Well for one its bit to pricy. works fine on 600 ml bottle but for bigger ones you need luck.

So obviously I like this and I recommend it, but there are some caveats. I'll describe what it's actually like as an item and then what it's like to use. I bought this for tonic water. I like gin, but as a long drink. Those tiny cans aren't big enough and are a rip-off. Bigger bottles of tonic water used to be a no-go, as I'd only usually want one drink and then the bottle would go flat a couple of days later. So, I go looking - and I find this. Basically, you open your soda and pour your drink and then attach this. You pump the bulb repeatedly to re-pressurize the bottle - the idea being that you fill out and seal the bottle with gas and the carbonated beverage can't lose it's fizz because there's nowhere for it to go. If you have strong hands this will buy you a good 3 extra days with a 1/3rd drunk 1ltr bottle. It works and it saves me money. But. You have to be able to really pressure this thing so the bottle becomes rock solid, just like before it was opened. Many people are not going to be able to do this properly as it puts up a lot of resistance. So, if you have large strong hands it's a really good buy, if not then it won't work for you.

I've got to share my excitement about the Jokari Fizz Keeper because this thing is seriously impressive! After using it for a while now, I can confidently say it's been a total game-changer for my soda drinking habits. The magic of this gadget is that it actually delivers on its promise - my soda literally never goes flat! I was skeptical at first (aren't we all with these kinds of products?), but every time I go back for another glass, the fizz is still there, just as bubbly as when I first opened the bottle.
