Q: Is this an all terrain boke or purely for road use?

It's an exercise bike! You probably could take it out onto the road, but you might look a bit silly and it's probably best not to take it on rough terrain, it might tip over!

Q: can someone please advise me how to fit the saddle? im at my wits end!

If Rocky's instructions are not sufficient do the following:1. Go to http://www.amazon.co.uk/We-Sports-Aerobic-Training-Exercise/dp/B0092DOEHG/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_i2. Hover the mouse over the seat to magnify it.3. You can see that there is an almost L shaped but angled metal part which slots in to the black part of the bike so insert that and secure it to the bike with one of the adjustment screws marked "To Adjust Loosen Then Pull".3. The seat mounting part slots into the part you have just attached in 2 as shown in the image. Secure this part to the bike by again using the adjustment screws marked "To Adjust Loosen Then Pull" from underneath at the very back of the bike.4. I can't remember if the bolts and the pin that they screw into used to tighten the seat when it is on the bike are already attached to the underside of the seat. If the pin isn't inserted then slot it in to the bottom of the seat. If the bolts aren't already attached to the pin then screw the bolts onto each end of it a couple of turns.5. Slot the seat on to the seat mounting part you have attached to the bike in 3. This should be obvious.6. Tighten the bolts on the bottom the seat so that it is securely fixed. They have to be very tight for the seat to be secure when you are on the bike.That's it. It's a great piece of kit so have fun!!

The seat and handle bars can be adjusted to any setting to cater for different size people. I am confident it could adjust to your 9 year old daughter's dimensions. It is a good exercise bike. I use all the time. The resistance adjustment can be a little fiddly to get it right. I hope this helps. Kind regards.
