Very Useful for the Home Tobacco Grower
Very helpful for the home grower looking to plan his next garden, or learn about the many strains of tobacco. Much of the information in here could be found by digging around on the internet, but this puts it all at your fingertips without spending hours digging around.

No aroma or flavor info
The book has a lot of nice color photos which can help with identification. The information about the varieties varies widely and in most cases the use of the variety is not listed. Also no attempt was made to provide flavor and aroma info. There is a brief overall intro but I wanted an introductory section on each type such as flue-cured, burley, etc that would describe how they were grown, harvested, cured, and their usage.Nonetheless I enjoy looking at it and I think by inference I will be able to select a few varieties of each type for next year's experiment.I guess I am a bit of a whore for any good tobacco info. I grew up near Danville, VA and the sweet smell of the tobacco warehouses in the fall always made me hungry when I was a kid. It is amazing that curing or fermenting tobacco can smell so sweet but commercial cigarettes stink so bad. Pipes and cigars I can handle.
