Secured Transactions: Problems, Materials, and Cases (American Casebook Series) 2nd Edition

The problem sets are very well designed to force the student to work through applications of Article 9. One cannot complete the problem sets with only a cursory understanding of the code. However the book gives you enough information before and in each set to be able to use the code to work out the solutions. Most of the examples are tied to real world scenarios rather than esoteric theoretical conflicts. A few of the problems are actually designed to highlight real problems which the code does not answer clearly. While the book does not advocate directly for what changes should be it prepares the student to be able to identify ambiguities and lapses and later to be able to argue for improvements.The text is not verbose, it is concise and says just enough to clearly understand the subject matter. This means that reading assignments come in digestible sizes so retention is likely higher.I have the benefit of using it in a class taught by one of the authors, and I can say that this is one of the few textbooks in which most of the book is useful, and we can go through the book in order.You absolutely need to have a good copy of the code as a companion book.-- addendum. One complaint I do have is that the book did not have an index, either by subject or code. It had a fair table of contents, but I really wanted an index.

Great book for learning Secured Transactions.

If you want to study this law yourself by using it, it will be a bad idea since there are so many questions without answer.

This is by far the best law school textbook that I have used. I think this is the first time I got done with the semester and thought, "the authors actually cared that I learn something and how to use it."Seriously, this book is phenomenal. Tables that layout exactly what you need to know. I found myself referencing their tables over and over again.Then there are the problems. This is the first law school text book where I actually did the problems. Why? Because they're helpful. 1 - they state the rule that they're applying. 2 - They explained the material first, and then dive into the details of applying the rule in the problems.I thank my professor for choosing this book and I thank the authors for making a great resource.
