Can it be used instead of hp 343?

The HP 344 is a high capacity tri-colour ink cartridge which holds 14ml of ink and can print up to 560 pages. Therefore, it costs more than the HP 343 standard capacity tri-colour ink cartridge which only holds 7ml of ink and prints up to 330 pages. These two ink cartridges will work in many of the same printer models so you should opt for whichever cartridge is most suitable for you in terms of its price or ink capacity.

Will it be in its original box, showing a proper use-by date?

COPIED FROM ANOTHER REVIEW...HOPE THE INFORMATION HELPS. HP 344 COLOUR CARTRIDGE. Buyer Beware!!! HP 344 Colour Cartridge Still Low Yield 14mls!! 560 Pages!! When HP sell you a new printer (Photosmart 2570) they only give you starter cartridges with it which hold a very small amount of ink in them. I was using about 3 black and 2 colour cartridge per month and it was costing me a small fortune. I later found out that Hp do higher yield versions of the starter cartridges, which cost only a few pounds more but hold far more ink in them than the starter cartridge which I was using before. Also with the 344 colour cartridge Hp only half fill it with 14mls of ink, What I do now is buy a 21ml British premium compatible which is full to the top from advantage-online. I have used them a couple of times so far and have been quite impressed. I hope you don't fall into the Hp trap of selling a very good printer (Photosmart 2570) at a very cheap price and then trying to charge you load of money for starter cartridges or only half fill cartridges...
