In-depth and clear explanations
I LOVE this book. I'm majoring in molecular biology so I have read a lot of chemistry-related textbooks. I have 3 for organic chemistry, and this is hands down my favorite of them all. The book starts with information to help you figure out which things to memorize and which things to learn the system so you don't have to memorize. The authors go in depth in their descriptions to ensure you truly understand the concepts. Their descriptions are also very clear, which makes the material this book more accessible than a lot of other books. If you're looking to teach yourself organic chemistry with a strong in-depth understanding, this is the book I would get.

Organic Chemistry by Wade (8th edition) Review
I took Organic Chemistry once before and my previous classes used Organic Chemistry by Francis Carey (8th edition). My Organic Chemistry classes this year, however, used Organic Chemistry by Wade (8th edition). Compared to the other book, Wade's book is a much easier read. The chapters range from 30 - 60 pages each, and take a while to read, but they are much easier to understand compared to the other book. I felt that Wade's book explained the concepts in a clear, concise manner, and the order of the topics within the book also made more sense. The chapters are organized so that they begin with naming, followed by properties (boiling points, melting points, hydration constants, etc), then syntheses and reactions. I liked that at the end of every chapter, there was a summary of the reactions covered, even some from previous chapters. I used to really dislike organic chemistry, but this book helped me better understand the topics covered in my class.

Great Examples!
Renting this book through Amazon is really the only way to go. I didn't have to spend $150 buying or renting the book from the book store, and I came on Amazon and rented it for $50 with the shipping. You really can't go wrong with that. The book is really good, it has a lot of examples throughout the chapters. I mean its organic chemistry its not the easiest read, but with all the examples it really helps you out. At the end of each chapter they do a really good job of summing up the important points and give good examples. This book saved my life while taking organic chemistry, so it is definitely something you should consider.
