Bought as a gift for a 10 year old. Stories are great and easy to read. Was a little smaller in size than I expected but that doesn’t detract from the overall quality of the book.

This is a highly entertaining book of stories about animals. Even reluctant readers will soon be regaling the whole family with tales of animal derring-do. It's a nice magazine-type format (complete with floppy cover, though perhaps slightly sturdier than your average magazine's) which allows kids to dip in and read bits and pieces which interest them, with plenty of attractive photographs for their amusement.I would say this book is great for 5-8 year olds especially, though any primary school child who likes animals will probably get some enjoyment out of it. It isn't, however, a particularly educational book, though the title probably makes this more than clear. It's a fun one. If you want something which will teach your children about animals, there are plenty of good little reference books available: DK and National Geographic both do quite good generalist encyclopedias on animals for children in this age group. For a child who is a competent reader, that loves animals this is an amazing book. It's full of interesting facts and stories about amazing animals. It is presented with a mixture of texts and pictures and is like a magazine. The text is quite tricky but the pictures help understanding. Great for just dipping into.

We bought this book for our grandchildren and they seem to make a beeline for it every time we see them. It's so nice to have something that amuses them other than the blooming tele!! Actually read some of the stories and find them bot amusing and very interesting. Would be of interest to anyone who just loves animals!!

Very educative, interactive book. My 2 years old love it - we discuss the animals when we read it together. I think it is good for any age, even for adults. Big colorful pictures, funny interesting stories - what else to expect from National Geographic? Another great book in our collection!

In leicht verständlichem Englisch wird hier mit Farbfotografien und tierischen Geschichten manch lange Autofahrt zu einem kurzweiligen Vergnügen.Zu empfehlen für Kinder, die gerne informative Zeitschriften konsumieren, sich für außergewöhnliche Tiere und Rekorde interessieren und schon zwei, drei Jahre Englisch in der Schule gelernt haben.National Geographic zieht sich hiermit eine neue Lesegeneration heran ;)
