Question 1

Can I add this to an established plant?

Accepted Answer

Yes you can, apply it close to the stem and work into the surface of the soil to ensure contact with some of the root system.

Question 2

Do we apply it in Spring or Autumn for established blueberries in the ground? Does it matter?

Accepted Answer

Rootgrow isn't actually a fertiliser as such, being intended to help establish a strong root system by establishing a 'network' of beneficial microscopic funghi which directly interact with the root system of the plant and help them absorb nutrients better. So it's really something you usually apply directly to the roots of new plants as you put them in. If you feel that your blueberries are struggling in some way, or not growing well, then I believe it's possible to dissolve rootgrow in water and then water soak the ground around plants so that the mycorrhizal funghi are tranmitted to the roots through the soil. I've seen one or two preparations on the market which sell the funghi packaged for this purpose, but not the ericaceous kind as far as I know. I have no experience of this method of application. But try it, if you think your plant's roots are not developing properly. If they're very new, I'd even consider digging them up and applying thepowdered rootgrow direct; but we're almost out of the spring season for doing this and, with April proving to be a dry month, I'd probably wait till autumn to try this approach But nothing ventured ......? Just remember that rootgrow is not a fertiliser, but a means by which two organisms become co-dependent to their mutual advantage. Fertiiser comes into play for them to benefit from after that.

Question 3

Do we apply it in Spring or Autumn for established blueberries in the ground? Does it matter?

Accepted Answer

Autumn is probably best as soil moisture will encourage it to grow. You will need to work it into the top layer of soil for best effect

Question 4

Can this be applied to the roots of a lemon tree before repotting?

Accepted Answer

Yes this will be of help.
Try not to disturb the root system too much as the rootgrow does not have to be in direct contact with the roots in a pot as the fungi will be able to grow short distances to the roots. At the bottom of the rootball is ideal as the rootgrow should be placed beneath the soil to ensure it remains moist
