Vostok company story starts back in 1942, when one of the Moscow watch-making plants has been evacuated from Moscow to a little town Chistopol located on the Kama River. Defense equipment was the only company output during war years, but as soon as the war was over Vostok started to make mechanical wrist watches - the main production item ever since. In 1965 Vostok company was appointed an official supplier of watches for the Defense Department of the Soviet Union. This year marks the creation of the world-famous "Komandirskie" ("Commander") watch. Military watch grew very popular even with people who were unaware which end of the gun bullet comes off, mainly due to high precision, excessive reliability and durability. The appearance of the watch also contributes to its appeal - functional and clear-cut design invoked the feeling of belonging to the tough world of combat professional. The experience which Vostok gained through development of the army watch was the foundation of our next special watch - "Amphibian". This impressive timepiece in stainless-steel case endured the depth of 200 meters - kind of a wrist submarine. Success of the professional watches determined the company's present philosophy - to create mechanical watches maintaining precise timekeeping at any temperature, in any environment, surviving heavy pressure and blows. The viability of the chosen strategy is now time-proven. A vast multitude of people both in Russia and abroad boasting "Vostok" watches and various international prizes awarded for high quality and commercial success testify to this. In 1996 Vostok started a partnership with US "Capital Trading" company aiming to create a new generation timepiece.

Stunner! Total bargain.
This watch is a stunner, a total bargain.When you see it, it looks way better than in the pictures.The loom is great, so you can read the time in the dark. Love the domed crystal and its presence, its vintage class.An in-house Vostok self-winding automatic movement for this price...The only minuses are the strap (which I changed) and that you cannot change the date fast, you have to wind the watch hour by hour, until days move to the right date.Love it!

From Russia With Love
A great little 17 Jewel mechanical winder from the Vostok factory via Amazon. Lovely classic military watch, and it only took seven days to get from Moscow to delivery in Devon. It has a beautifully engraved case back and I think it is unbeatable value. These watches are as tough as old boots, you just have to get used to the screw down crown, pull out winding, and changing the date by repeatedly moving the hour hand between 8 and 12.Watch fans buy one!

So far so good.This watch turned up today, about a week early. It is built like a brick except for one thing, the crown seems a little flimsy to me when it is unscrewed. But it seems to work fine. Perhaps it is me.After 8 hours running it is bang on to the second.It's unusual and looks good on the wrist.Less than 50 pounds for a well built manual.. Wow.

Great watch delivered in a week from Russia. Would buy again as a gift.
Bought for work. Solid men's watch. Clear dial. Unusual winding and time setting technique but easy to master. Synthetic strap that I'll replace with a leather strap when I need to.

Vostok watch.
This watch looks really low quality. Was thinking of getting one but after reading reviews. Is it a mix of Asian and Russian low tech?. £40 no way. Looks like a kids watch.

Military Classic
Great classic military watch at a silly price. One week free delivery time ( tracked). Vostok watches are near bomb proof, but look up how to change the date and wind, they are very idiosyncratic. A bargain.
