An amazing must-have collectable book for any jewellery and gemstone fan! The hardback cover is luxuriously flocked (wasn't expecting either hard back or the texture) and the images are of high quality and in full colour. The book is also larger in size than expected, makes a perfect coffee table book. Bargain price for a essentially, a coloured reference text book. One of those books you can just open onto any page and learn something new every day. LOVE this book so much! A great gift for any jewellery lover :)

I got this myself years ago. I showed my copy to a friend and she loved it. I got it for her as a present. My copy had a lovely flock cover, the later ones haven't got the same cover. They are the same inside. Very informative and beautiful pictures.

Stunning book with huge amounts of information and breathtaking photos, a professionally produced quality book, looks amazing on the coffee table as far too good to put on a shelf. It has a velvety cover which adds to its lovely appearance - books bring such joy which we sometimes forget about but this book is an absolute joy if you are interested in nature’s gift and crafts people who create stunning pieces of unimaginable beauty. I previously bought the luxurious black velvet covered book, this new edition is for a present. Why change the cover? It isn’t an improvement, at least it could have remained black with the diamond photo, just not black flocking. It is however a superb book with a profusion of beautiful photographs to lust over.

Good book covering the chemical composition, appearance and properties of gemstones. Lovely illustrations, velvet cover a nice touch. Only downside is that this is a very heavy book which was awkward for my seven year old who loves rocks and likes to sit on my lap to read together but can't really complain because it's the content that generates the weight and the content is brilliant.

This book is a lovelr gemmology and jewellery reference book. The luxurious black velvety hard cover and the glorious colour frints make this a wonderful coffee table book for anyone loving beautiful jewellery.My advice is don't be fooled by the seemingly dull cover understated book cover, this book is anything but dull inside.
