Very very useful for location and studio work
The idea of these is that you fill the reservoir with water, and then use them exactly like a brush but without the need for a water-container. This makes them perfect for outdoor work - there is no leakage of water while you are carrying them around and they can be used instantly as soon as you take the cap off them. I saw a fellow-artist using these brushes with watercolour pencils and noticed how easily he could blend in the colours with them. With just a few watercolour pencils and one of these water-brushes you are equipped for any sketching trip. They also work fine with watercolour paint but you might find it easier to have a water-jar handy to rinse them out as you would soon get through the reservoir if you keen wanting to squeeze it to wash one colour out before putting another one on. These are so good you wonder why not every water-media artist does not have them in their equipment box. Even if you don't want to use them often, they are useful for just touching up a finished painting - ideal for example for washing-out or replacing a bit of mis-placed colour. A very good product - whenever I show them to a fellow-artist they always want one for themselves. A perfect gift of any water-colour painter or watercolour pencil painter.

These are amazing!
I've had these for around about 8 weeks and I've used them numerous times since then. I've never really tried watercolours before, so I was trying these as a complete beginner but I was pleasantly surprised! They're incredibly easy to use, you just unscrew them, and then fill them with water, screw them back together and you're good to go! It's simply a case of giving them a little squeeze to get going and then you can pick up the watercolour of your choice and start. There's no steep learning curve to using these, they're incredibly easy to use. It's as easy as using a felt tip pen. My sister is doing art at college and has used these a few times and has said they're much easier to use compared to paint brushes just because you have so much more control and they're very familiar to use if you're more inclined to using pencil colours or pens. I have nothing negative to say! They're a great price, easy to use, easy to clean. I've even let my four year old use them and he had no trouble with them what so ever. :)

Great brushes to use anywhere.
I bought these to use with some watercolour pencils I received as a gift for Christmas (Staedtler Karat - 60 colour set) so that I could try something different with my adult colouring books. I've not had much experience with watercolours before - neither the paint variety nor the pencil variety, but I am finding these brush pens to be ideal for me so far. I love that I don't have to have a jar of water next to me meaning that I can use these brushes even when I'm feeling unwell and so want to colour in bed. They don't leak at all which is great and don't seem to require any pressure at all to deliver the water to the tip. However, if you hold them totally vertical, you don't risk all the water leaking out. If you are familiar with any of Pentel's liquid ink pens, then you will recognise the use of the same kind of slow-flow mechanism (for want of a better word) in these brush pens. It works just as well with water as it does with ink in their pens. They seem to blend the colours together nicely when using the smallest amount of water (I've kept one brush pen free of water and use the others to add tiny amounts of water) to retain a strong colour, and if you use more it gives the more traditional watery sweep of colour across the page. So they seem very good for the novice, even if I'm not using the "correct" techniques. They do what I want them to do at least! So I am very happy with this set so far. I will update my review later if anything changes for better or worse.

These brushes like always are perfect
These brushes like always are perfect. They come in 3 different sizes which makes it super useful for when you want to do some watercolour or ink drawings on the go. You can also fill them straight away with ink to create really quick washes on your drawings and give them that extra pop. One flaw that I have always found, but it doesn't really bother me is that if you accidentally squeeze the brush too hard water will come out from where you open it, which is absolutely normal as you shouldn't be squeezing it too hard anyways. However if you do it makes is super easy to clean the colour off the brush thanks to the extra water. When buying these brushes you do have to keep in mind what type of colouring you do, and do some tests before using it as you might end up with a very thick/dense colour on the paper instead of a very watery feel. It really is up to personal preference, but tests are important to see what fits your style better :)

Great waterbrush that should last a great deal of time
Having invested in some nice watercolour pencils I trawled around looking for a reasonably priced, dependable water brush pen to use alongside the pencils. I decided to try this one. I was unsure whether to get the small tip, or the medium. So, I went for the medium and glad I did. The brush head is large enough to cover some space if needed. But, has a small enough tip to use for the more delicate, tiny areas. Its easy to fill, and empty. Carries enough water to last a while in one sitting if you were out and about. Also, if you learn how to squeeze it just right, you can have good control over the water flow. Its bristles are just the right texture, not too soft and not too hard. Lastly, you have to remember to flush the brush through after each use, so that the colours do not stain, or ruin parts of your artwork. I believe this will last a while. Can't go wrong with this Pentel brand one.

Self cleaning, easy to use, achieve variation. Great product
I love these so much. I do art, and a lot of it and i often watch art channels on youtube and watch them illustrating away. I noticed that two of the artist channels i follow (Doodle Date & Jellie Bee), were using these, but not just with water in, with drops of ink in too. With the ink added to the water, it creates a great ink wash for backgrounds and any other things you want a nice ink wash for. The assorted tips are useful in order to achieve detail and blocking in certain areas and are so easy to use with watercolours. I was unsure of how it would work with watercolours as you don't clean the brush in separate water, to my delight, they clean themselves. I just love these and i recommend them to anyone who uses watercolours or want to achieve an even ink wash.

- They are very convenient for travel sketches or if you would just like to paint without having to sit at a table/desk ...
I've always had a love-hate relationship with these pens. I've had them about three separate times, all from Pentel and my view on these products is always consistent. Pros: - They are very convenient for travel sketches or if you would just like to paint without having to sit at a table/desk - They're easy to fill up and a little water goes a long way - They don't leak when capped -There's a good variety of sizes - They can hold a point fairly well Cons: - They don't let water out of the nib consistently. There will be times where I press the barrel slightly for some more water to come out and they release is delayed - so by the time the water comes out, I've already moved my paintbrush and the water will wet part of the page where I don't want it to. OR there are times I don't even put any pressure on the barrel and water will suddenly leak out, making careful, precise work almost impossible. This one con is big enough that I can't give the product any more than 3 stars. They may be more convenient to carry around than a pot of water - but a normal paintbrush is sure as hell more precise than these are. I think they could be designed better, then they would be perfect.

These are the best!
These are the best aqua pens you can get in my opinion. I have tried a few, but non quite match up to these. I have just bought another set to add to the ones I already have and the old ones are still perfectly fine. I've had them for years. My last set have been thoroughly used and are still up to the job, albeit one which I took apart and it never worked the same. They are so simple to use. My grandkids have used them from a young age, squashing the bristles, dabbing and painting and the bristles still ping back and I can go straight to doing delicate watercolours with them, they still come up good. Perfect for washes, or stronger applications of paint, they are great to blend with. These come with different sizes of bristles for fine or thicker application. I love them and they are used regularly.
