The Batcave Companion (BATCAVE COMPANION SC)

Excellent book at the secondhand price. Interesting interviews with Carmine Infantino, Neal Adams and Denny O'Neil. Good articles on various bits of Batman history and how Bob Kane wrote his name all over it but never really did much. Twomorrows do really great books about comics.

I used this book as a source for my Bachelor's thesis and it had a lot of information that I was looking for. Good illustrations in connection with cultural developments. A good book

I had my eye on this book for quite some time, and listed it in my wishlist registry for quite a while. I finally noticed that it was available, and I ordered one copy. The book came through the mail carrier, and it was packaged neatly, with several layers of wrapping paper inserted inside for added protection. I finally got a chance to skim through some of the paperback book. The binding was tight, and I didn't see any visible signs of writing on the inside pages. No highlighting, or underlying of sentences of the word phrases. The pages on the inside of the book were a bright shade of white, with black print. No yellow stains or spills. The outside cover was like new. No bending, or torn edges. It was a great looking book. The content of what was written on the inside, was more like a history book and anthology. Than it was, or had to do, about a guide to the bat cave. There were alot of main article biography information about the chronological events that were taken, and unfolding, throughout the years of the superheroes appearance. The book was well preserved, and I didn't know anything about the content of what was written inside before I found out it was for sale. It IS, although, a very good hard copy of Batman's life than the whole collection of Batman magazine articles and collector's books that I have purchased, annually that are photographed in COLOR. It's just that this particular version is Just only printed in Black and White. It's still a good book. I had an opportunity to sit down a little bit longer and look at some of the pages a little bit closer. It can also be used as a reference guide. With a summary index of Batman comics on the inside throughout the book. For their article reference. And a time lines of publications. So you can give it a quick look into the late 60s publications releases. But it still alot like a history book/Reference guide. And I will probably read it soon.

Maybe I didn't read enough of the description but this book is not about the Batcave at all. I thought it would be words and pictures about the famous 'Cave throughout history, but the book is actually a history of Batman from 1964 to 1979. That said, it's a good history book, and it's packed with info, so I am giving it 5 stars even though it wasn't really what I wanted or expected.

Excellent, highly recommended to anyone who grew up reading Batman and Detective comics during the 60's and 70's. I thought that I already knew most of this stuff but was pleasantly surprised. Behind the scenes interviews are quite enlightening and most enjoyable. I would have liked a little more color inside but I know that that would just increase the cost. Great job gentlemen! Can't wait to read the other DC "Companion" offerings.

I passed on this book for several years, but decided to buy it when I saw that Amazon listed only 1 copy left! So I don't know if the review will be helpful if there are no more copies available (at least through Amazon) but I can say that it was an enjoyable read, surveying various aspects of the Batman series starting with the Julius Schwartz "New Look" of 1964, on through the "camp' TV-show era of the mid 60's, to the "creature of the night" revamp for Batman spearheaded by Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams during the 1970's.
