The Puppet Company - Large Birds - Scarlet Macaw Hand Puppet

I bought this product as a teaching tool (i teach 4 and 5 year olds). It arrived looking better than I expected, it's brightly coloured and fluffy which is appealing to children. The sound comes out easily and it is comfortable to use as a puppet for a long time as there is plenty of room inside for an adult hand. It has feet at the bottom which makes it look more realistic as you can have it sitting on your lap and the children can see the whole bird rather than it ending abruptly at its stomach. The children know that "macaulay the macaw" comes out during maths sessions as he is the "counting bird" (who isn't very good at counting) the children just love helping him to count properly and are really kind to him when he gets it wrong. I have already gotten so much mileage out of this toy.

Amazing puppet. Has started to fray around the edges now, has a hole here and there but has had a few years of HEAVY use with my daughter. Has a squeaker in the mouth so endless fun, sooo expressive. Well worth a buy.

I first saw this in John Lewis while we were visiting family at the other end of the country, and my little one loved it! We ended up leaving it as it really it is for ages 3+, and my little one is under 1. However, we decided to look for it a few weeks later on Amazon and found this one, and decided to buy anyway, and we use it to put on puppet shows for our little one, without letting him get too close to it! One of the main reasons it's for 3+ is that you do just have to look at it and bits of fluff start flying! So naturally, we don't want our little one sticking it in his mouth and coughing up a hairball. But that is the only drawback! It's brilliant - there's plenty of space to get an adult hand into the beak, and as you open the beak it makes a cawing sound, which is fantastic as you can make it sound like it's laughing and gets massive smiles and giggles from our son! Other than the fluff going everywhere (which looking at it, come on, it's to be expected), the quality of the piece is really good, and the bright colours are very eye catching! Would definitely recommend - the entertainment value is priceless!

This was a present for a four year old, so I am relying on positive pleasure-report from parent. And it is still being played with a month after birthday, so must be good! I have always loved glove puppets so I am a bit biased.

Not sure if others would find it so good but my dog loves to play with puppet toys. Makes a great game and because she's a retriever she doesn't destroy them. Great fun!

Lovely bright colours. Easy to get your hand into the puppet to open the mouth. Kids love the squeak. Both of my sons love playing with this puppet. My one year old laughs every time he hears the squeak.Best of all it gets the kids away from the tv and other devices and uses their imagination. Great for all kids of any age!The fur does pull out, cause it is long.

I BOUGHT THIS PUPPET AND THE GORILLA ONE BY THE PUPPET COMPANY AS A GOOD INTERACTION TOY WITH MY FIRST TO BE CHILD. I WAS SUPRISED HOW BIG AND SOFT THESE PUPPETS ARE FOR THE PRICE, COMPARED TO OTHER PUPPETS THAT CAN BE TINY SO THEY CAN DOUBLE UP AS A CUDDLY TOY ALSO. MY ONLY SLIGHT COMPLAINT IS THE FUR FEELS A BIT ON THE THIN SIDE BUT OTHER THAN THAT EVERYTHING ELSE IS FINE AND I WILL BE BUYING MORE OF THESE PUPPETS IN THE FUTURE!

This is a lovely puppet and has a great realistic squawk. It is a good size and very colourful. My only issue with this puppet is that it fluffs so much and small threads keep coming off the puppet and I am concerned that my little one would choke on these small bits that keep coming off the puppet.
