Is there a pocket inside the cover for the back cover of a field notes/moleskin book to slide into to hold it in place? can't tell from the pictures.

No pocket, but there is an elastic band that is attached to the middle of the cover that will hold a field notes or moleskin in place. You open the field notes to the middle and slide it in behind the elastic band.
