Interesting but could have been better
This is a good history of the music of the Eagles, very informative, but it could have been better. It's very detailed, over 1000 pages long, but does tend to ramble on & is sometimes very repetitive. Those not knowing a great deal about the band's history will learn a lot if they have the patience to stick with it. If you like the Eagles, there's a great section on them in a book by Simon Aston, called Ramblings of a Rock & Roll Nobody which is full of thoughts about the Eagles & a load of other bands...great fun!!

Comprehensive and engaging
I’m not a huge Eagles fan but I enjoy a few of their tracks and love anything to do with music history. Wow! This book hits that spot and I’m really surprised that it hasn’t been more widely reviewed, particularly in the music and popular press. It’s a mighty tome, appears to be very well researched and is absolutely packed with detail. It’s a full and fascinating insight into the world of popular music; the struggles, the success, the pressures and ultimately the falling apart. It’s well written and to be fair, reading in a Kindle doesn’t do it justice as it’s packed with pictures. There are numerous hyperlinks which work well, but to get the most out of the book, it’s better in paper copy or in a tablet, where it comes to life. You don’t need to be a fan of the band to enjoy the content; this is a slice of contemporary social history. It’s a real peek behind the scenes of life on and off the road with a big band and what it was actually like. Driven by success and the need to keep making music and, of course money, doesn’t pave the way to happiness. This is a warts and all story but it’s vibrant, feels honest and it’s actually prompted me to download an Eagles album and listen again to some of their more familiar and less well known tracks with an informed view. If you like music, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this engaging review a familiar band. I did.My thanks to the publisher for a review copy via Netgalley.

Flying High!
This book is a follow-up to the previous book Eagles: Before The Band and is fantastic. To say that it is comprehensive is an understatement. If you are an Eagles fan and already know a lot about the band, you will discover a wealth of information that will surprise you. The detail involved in the “band years' ' provides in-depth details for each album with ratings, background song information and the studio recording process. Plus, the connections to other writers such as Jackson Browne, JD Souther and Jack Tempchin is heavily referenced throughout the book. The content expands to other influential artists such as Linda Ronstadt, Gram Parsons, Dan Fogelberg and Poco. Content is taken from numerous sources and it is entertaining without becoming dull. There are numerous books on the band and this one fits nicely and avoids repetitiousness.

Great Eagles Timeline
My wife got books one and two of the trilogy for my birthday and Christmas. I’ve been an Eagles fan since their first album and enjoyed the books immensely. Sometimes I think I know all there is to know about the band, but was introduced to “new stuff”. The rose-colored glasses need to come off as the Eagles evolved, at times dysfunctionally, into one of America’s great bands. I wholeheartedly recommend these books and cannot wait for the third to come out.
