It's so small that there's not really a way for it to dissipate heat so if it's on high for a minute don't touch the front because it can get extremely hot.

Next time, it will be the mode when you turn it on. So you can turn it off when it is working on the lowest brightness for over 3 mins, then next time it will start at this brightness.
