Early Childhood Theories Today

Wonderful.
This book is a tour de force of Early Years teaching and learning. This is a great read for people at the beginning of their career since the breadth of thinking around teaching and learning covered is quite remarkable, however it is equally informative and compelling to an experienced teacher and manager such as myself. Each chapter covers different perspectives, pedagogies and thinking around early education. The writing is compelling, beautifully researched and written. The book informs and stimulates personal development in each chapter. It gets better with each re-read - the sign of a great book!

For a bunch of contributors so expert this could have been a weighty tome but…
After the appropriately full dedication to Pete Swailes, what I love about this book is its feel , the weight, the discipline that has gone into the editing . For a bunch contributors so expert this could have been a weighty tome but Bradbury and Swailes have made it so accessible for experienced practitioners, teaching them something new, and for those setting out , giving them signposts . This a book that trusts the reader to take the contents further under their own steam - the best educators have always been like that..I have lifted it up a lot , the way Heaney describes his pen in ‘Digging’ .

Excellent.
I've been looking for a book that covers theorists and how this fits into current practice, this book fits the bill perfectly. I'd definitely recommend.

A must read for all involved with young children
This book extends way beyond an Early Years remit and is essential reading for all who work with young children across Early Years, Infant and Primary. Packed with key information about current and past theorists which is easily accessible alongside key questions to reflect on own practice. Some chapters really resonated with my own values, beliefs and experience whilst others challenged my thinking. Very readable and have recommended it to many colleagues.

Awesome blend of early childhood theorists
Whether your a student researching educational theorist or a seasoned EYFS practitioner this book is a must for any bookshelf. The chapters in this book makes you reflect on the works of Early Years theorist (many of whom were pioneers) and how they have influenced modern day to day practises and will continue to do so as we guide each child to fulfil their childhood and beyond.
