Great soap. Yes it does have a strong smell. Wish it wasn't so expensive.

Best soap for alleviating chronic itchy skin conditions, pricy but well worth it. It hasn't cured my skin condition but has made it a lot more bearable, this soap is a godsend.

Tar soap does a great job of cleansing and doesn't leave a greasy feel the way that 'beauty' soaps do. Helpful in the treatment of many skin complaints such as psoriasis. Quite good value bought as a 4 pack.

Nice soap but it stains the bathroom

I bought this for my two sons as one has keratosis pilaris and the other has eczema and we had tried most lotions and potions without much luck. Within a week the eczema was gone and the kp was much less noticeable. This soap is fantastic as it has helped clear up very irritating skin conditions, reduce clutter in my bathroom, cleared up dandruff, made my husbands skin smoother after shaving and cleared up acne....now if only it did the ironing!! It is expensive but I bought this in April and with heavy use the first bar is only just finished and when you consider you won't use as many other products it is worth it. I also found that after washing my hair with it, it was very soft and shiny. As to the smell, it is quite strong when you first open the box but leave the bathroom window open and it is soon gone and it doesn't leave a smell on your skin or hair. Would definitely buy this again.

I regularly buy this soap. It is simply great. These bars are bigger than those sold by Ray Mears's company for around the same price. But there is much confusion on amazon about number of bars in the pack. The information says 3 bars in the title but 4 bars in the information. Recent reviews state only three bars are being received and this is what I expected but today a pack of four bars was delivered!!

I can say it’s lovely soap because I’ve purchased it before, but why does the pack of 4 now only contain 3 bars? No way to contact the seller about this and Amazon help just wants to direct me to an automated refund/return without getting to explain the issue.

If you like the smell of wood and campfires you'll love this stuff. The smell is quite strong initially but is more subtle when used and has a slightly sweeter scent which is more like you would expect from regular soap. 5/5 I like smelling like an expensive cupboard
