I can honestly say that this product did stop my cough so I could sleep. However, I am not sure it stopped my cough because it is supposed to, or whether it was the sheer horror of the after taste of this product. I can testify to the fact that if a child swore, rather than dish soap as a threat, use this bad boy and I can promise you that child will join a monastery later in life. I am finding it very difficult to describe the flavour because I have never tasted anything like it, but I am convinced Shakespeare tasted something quite similar when he wrote "Fillet of a fenny snake, In the cauldron boil and bake; Eye of newt and toe of frog, Wool of bat and tongue of dog, Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting, Lizard's leg and owlet's wing, For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble". Yes folks it was that fowl, even when as advised in other reviews to "shake" the bottle before taking. I would say it does the trick, but it certainly needs more than a spoonful of sugar to make this one go down and stay down.

This is the only cough syrup that works for my son, who gets chronic coughs. As in, he will cough all night but one dose of this and I calms his cough and he can rest. We discovered it while visiting family in Scotland and always bring some back with us but we always run out. We couldn’t believe it when we found it on Amazon US and purchased 4 bottles!

I used to buy this when my chest colds got bad in the UK. I wish they sold this in America at stores, but until then, I'll but it on Amazon. Tastes terrible, works great.
