Sunny Health & Fitness Foldable Roman Chair, Back Hyperextension Bench

I'm 6' 2", 200lbs (91kg) so am keen that anything I buy to carry my weight, plus more, is solid and well built. When this arrived I was firstly impressed by how lovingly packaged and laid out in its box this was. All parts are numbered sequentialy with clear instructions for construction, that come with it, in an A4 size booklet. Following the instructions exactly, the machine takes shape easily and with minimum fuss. Each part is well made and well finished and the end result is very pleasingly heavy and strong, comparing favourably with any other home gym equipment I have had in the past. Most gyms I have been to don't seem to have Roman Chairs these days due to Health and Safety and the potential for easy back injuries if they are not used appropriately. On this subject I would recommend researching how to use the Roman Chair thoroughly on YouTube. There are many videos, featuring all levels of ability, available for free, with advice from career professionals. this being said, the first thing I found out was that everything I thought was wrong and, fortunately I started using it correctly from the start, thanks to the available guidance..If I had jumped in and just got on to it, in addition to wasting my energy, I could have hurt myself. It is fully adjustable and takes my weight easily in all positions. It folds away to about the size of a large ironing board. It's smart and will certainly last for a very long time. For the money, I think this is an absolute bargain. It usually takes me a long tome to get round to writing feedback about my purchases on Amazon. Weeks, even months, go by but I only got this a couple of days ago and, perhaps due to endorphins from home exercising this afternoon, I feel compelled to recommend this to anyone who is hesitating about whether this is any good. It is. I'm happy and am looking forward to having glutes like cannonballs, a washboard stomach and grapefruit shoulders. All I have to do now is put in the necessary, countless, hours of work to get them.

In the product photos this Roman chair looks like it might be a bit flimsy. It isn’t. It’s very robust and very solidly made with enough weight to be stable. It also looks good. Assembly is surprisingly straightforward, with about four main assembly stages. The nuts and bolts for each stage of the assembly are encased in small numbered bubble packs, so you just open each pack as you get to that stage. The only tools needed are a small spanner and an Allen key, both of which are supplied. I particularly like the fact that this device is easy to fold after use and has wheels fitted on the bottom so you can easily move it to its storage place. The only downside is that adjusting the height of the pads is a bit fiddly but once you have them correctly positioned you probably won’t need to change the setting unless more than one person of differing height is using the device or you need to adjust the height upwards in order to use the dip bars more comfortably. All in all I have been very impressed. A Roman chair that looks well built and hopefully should last a long time.

Surprisingly stable. Length from foot plate to top of pad is 995 mm, dip bar width is 600 mm centre which makes it difficult to keep your elbows in when doing dips. As a 189 cm tall male, the dimensions are just about adequate for dips and back extensions. Super quick to fold up and store when compared to the other versions on Amazon which require bolts to be undone etc. Only gripe is that the hip pads are a little bit too close together for a male...

Good purchase but beware of missing screws! Received with one screw missing for the pad u rest against. Was supposed to be 4 screws in total to secure it in place but I only received 3 in my assembly pack. Overall not a big deal but I’m taking 1 star off for this reason. Aside from this it’s a decent purchase and is sturdy enough for the task in hand

I have had this piece of equipment for a few days and find it to be excellent! Before buying things, I read the range of reviews from the poorest to the best and my experience is that the poorest reviews are oftenthe result of failure to follow product instructions or a lack of common sense. One review of this product complained of mis-aligned bolt holes which if true is concerning and while I was able to replicate this, it is merely due to there being some wiggle play when putting the two parts together and they are easily aligned when one realises this. I am a 70kg/155lb male and find this equipment stable and have no fear of it tipping over in the multiple ways it can be used. There is some play which is the result of it having a single centre strut that folds which inevitably means while it can’t be rock solid without a little play, I find it is stable and reassuringly strong. Most important is that it allows me to do a range of exercises I could not do without it and a search on YouTube will show at least 9 such exercises. It folds away neatly in a few easily and instantly, is well designed and constructed and I am delighted with it.

The product itself is fine except 1 nut. So there was 1 nut which attaches to 1 of the bolts, this nut has a damaged thread (this is while trying to assemble the equipment for the first time, so it keeps spinning and will not tighten one of the bolts. I asked for this nut as to be replaced by The Sunny Company, as they have said on the guide to contact them first before going through Amazon. Anyway, took the time to give them details of purchase, invoice, photo’s, video and explanation, only to be told, that the company operates in the USA, so cannot deliver the nut! They told me which one to buy. It doesn’t cost much, and no point going through Amazon for a little thing. But be warned if you make a purchase outside of The USA, they won’t support you.

I was concerned as this has quite mixed reviews, but glad I bought it. In my experience this is a well made bit of kit. All fitted together easy enough with the tools provided. While I've not given it a ton of use yet I see no reason to think it won't last a good long while. I'm about 6' and 12 stone ish - plenty of adjustment for height in both directions, and I'd be happy putting far more weight on this. Man talk: One slight niggle. While it does have a gap between the pads I still find I sometimes need to rearrange things so they don't get squished. Not boasting, I'm really not, just saying.... I wish those pads were a little further apart or, better still, adjustable. It's a minor complaint though - this is workable, far better than a one-piece pad. I've not seen anything else at this price-point that looks better. If shopping again I'd still go for this.

This is perfect for a home gym. It folds away behind our bedroom door and is great for lower back exercises. ...although if I wanted something to do dips on, I'd buy something a bit more sturdy and a bit taller.

You are not buying a professional technogym bench. But for the price this is a very good purchase! I am 90kg and I find it very stable and solid. It is MUCH better than the professional bench in my gym. In that one the range of motion is limited, I bought this one because I needed a proper range of motion due to problems in my back. I am 100% happy with the exercises this bench allows. The item was not difficult to assemble, all nuts and bolts were neatly organized and pieces fit well with no struggle. You find the wrenches in the package but, obviously, it’s easier if you have proper tools. I assembled alone with the tool provided. Had there been two persons and proper tools, assembly would have been a breeze. I am very happy with my purchase

This was the least expensive angled hyper-extension bench I could find around. Moreover, I wanted one that could be collapsed when not in use since I am in short of space and didn't want something that permanently fills my space. This fits the description well. I fold it and lean it against a wall when I am not using it. I paid $102 + tax. Surprisingly, I am 5'10" and I have set the seat height to its lowest level! So, I am not sure how shorter people are using this (in the reviews, I read some shorter people had no problem with it). Since I have just recently bought this, I can't speak of its durability. It does seem well sturdy for my weight (80kg). On another note, it's not too heavy hence easy to carry around. It is greatly helping me preventing back spasms during these times of covid-19 where I stay home sitting in front of my computer for long periods of time which makes me prone to back spasms. Update #1: I have had it for about 8 months now and I have been using it fairly regularly during this time and it has held up well so far. I use it to strengthen my lower back and glute muscles as well as the core muscles on the sides of my stomach. Update #2: 4 years and still as solid as day one. I have learned that I can also use it to work my mid/upper back muscles. So while positioning in the device, instead of bending my entire back, I only bend my upper back and straighten it up. This movement engages my mid/upper muscles.
