Could it hold an inverted 10 gallon water jug on top of it so the container holds more than 5 gallons?

As an owner of such an artistic Oyarveda hand made copper water reservoir, I would not do anything to it that diminishes it's beauty and craftsmanship. As an engineer, as long as you support the water jug on a robust frame and not directly on top of the copper reservoir, and as long as you add an air relief valve on top of the jug, it should work. Of course, it is going to look ugly.

Will the top fit a berkey water filter?

Do not buy this as u can find much cheaper pot than this and bigger too and also the tap is of cheap quality .so look at nearby stores before buying it from here
