Transgender Warriors : Making History from Joan of Arc to Dennis Rodman

For most of my life I've wondered if people like myself have existed, and if so how. And in this book Leslie not only addressed that question but does so in a well-researched, methodical, progressive manner that both validifies our lives and identities, but does so for those that have come before us as well.RIP Leslie, and thank you for all your work.

One of the best LGBT history books available. It was a course book for my college.Accessible to non-historians and an entertaining read. It's not written like a 'history book' but it provides a heck of a lot of information and has a wonderfully useful glossary/ directory in the back.I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to know a little more about LGBT history (understandably this focuses on trans history specifically and how it meshes with LGBT) and anyone who is part of the family.

A must read. The history of transgendered people in the world is fascinating and the history of how they have been treated historically is enlightening. They have not always been treated with the disdain and hatred as they are treated currently. The depths to which Feinberg has gone in his research is outstanding . An easy read as well. The book keeps you interested. Includes many photos of transgendered people and art. It is sad that Feinberg died so young and before he could write more books.

This book takes a great, simple approach to covering a quick over view of Transgender history. This is a must for anyone in LGBT+ activist circles, gender theory, and probably great for any trans person to get to know their history. In addition, you're going to sound cool if you name drop Leslie Feinberg in any liberal college student discussion of lgbtq issues. :P

This is a good history of Transgender people going back into early recorded history., continuing with up to date comments as to current problems.My only complaint was the exceptionally small print accompanying the photos;perhaps I need new glasses?I think parents, relatives, friends of Trans people might see it as a real wake-up call. People who are prejudiced against them are unlikely to read it.

One of my favorite books to recommend people who are curious about trans lives and history. It's an accessible read, easy to get through, yet packed with such thorough research.

My s/o had this book years ago, and made the mistake of loaning it to a friend. I was delighted to find it on Amazon. Very informative, and an easy read.

This book is incredible! It maps out trans identities all through history in such a clear and easy to understand way and gives such a great knowledge of non-binary gender throughout time. I can't recommend this book enough!

Excellent history, discussion and examination of transgender and social issues. Well researched and constructed.

Everyone should read this book. As transgendered people are invisible in the main stream venues. Feinberg shows us the history of transgendered people but it is not an exhaustive history book. She talks about what we who aren't transgendered need to know; what everyone needs to know about transgended people from and world worker's point of view.It's one of my favourite books of all time. A must read.
