Great Christmas Present
So enjoying using this book. Divided into over 40 Workshops (I have completed 8). it is a heavy tome and covers a great deal. Quality of the paper is very good so perfect for my own attempts at lettering. Love the inspiring quotes which I practise on premium printing paper then fill in the spaces provided in the book. It is illustrated throughout with drawings and doodles which are relaxing and fun to colour in and makes for an attractive book and record of your lettering journey. Amy Latta has put a lot of thought into this beautiful book. Thank you so much!

Brilliant book
This is an easy to follow book demonstrating different styles and illustrations for hand lettering. I love how you have space to practice in the book and the instructions are clear. Would recommend this book to anyone else thinking of getting in to hand lettering.

Beautiful, thorough, informative book
This is an amazing book! I wanted to learn brush lettering and realised there was much more to it than I thought! I wanted something to practice on so searched for practice sheets and this book came up. It is split into 47 workshops, covering faux calligraphy, banners, letters, highlights - there is too much to write down! Ypu start at the beginning (a very good place to start ;-) ) and just work your way through the workshops. I am using a variety of mediums - uniball pens, coloured pencils, ballpoint, brush pens, and will add watercolour pens soon. I am really enjoying this large, thorough, interesting, beautiful book and can't recommend it enough if you want to get learning lettering and all that goes with it to create your own masterpiece

Great lettering lessons
Lovely book, loads of space to practice, lots of styles to try. Very clear instructions, but enough scope to add your own individual twist. A great book for beginners to this new trend.

Beautiful simplicity
This book is so beautiful and relaxing to use - it guides you step by step to create beautiful handlettering and is easy and accessible. I actually prefer this to adult colouring books as I have a few disabilities that can make the repeated back and forth of colouring painful. This is also so much more useable - my diary and journal are both more beautiful than ever. The book itself is made of high quality paper that doesn’t bleed through. I use a beginners pack of Tombow pens and find its a perfect accompaniment

It's 3.5 stars from me
The book itself is lovely with thick, good quality pages and a binding that lays flat (my copy however, was a bit creased and had a stain from a pervious sticker on it as well as a black dot on the spine). The book though, should have been called "Doodling for relaxation" because this book does not teach proper hand lettering which I was looking for. There are alphabets of several kinds but in doodley, hand sketched styles, and then there are no drills and practice pages where you can properly practice them. I then went onto Amy Latta's webpage, since she mentions that there are practice pages on her website, but even these are not concise enough. Where the book truly shines, is in the doodle and design departments. You get to learn various cute drawings, that you can incorporate in your own designs, such as flowers, birds, borders and so on. The book also teaches you how to put the words and drawings together into a cohesive design. I agree with previous reviewers stating that your satisfaction with this book will solely depend on what you want to use this book for; business or pleasure? If you just want to doodle away and use it like one uses a colouring book, which is to relax, then you will absolutely love this book. But your results will not look professional. However, if you want to incorporate a variety of lettering styles into your professional practice (or develop such practice), you will not be satisfied with this book. I am a professional calligrapher who uses copperplate as well as modern calligraphy with pointed pen, and just getting into brush lettering and wanting to learn various other lettering styles. However, I was let down in this latter department by the book. But because of my background, I was able to get on with the exercises, however, I do not see how a complete beginner will be able to do so. I think they would be endlessly frustrated if wanting professional results. If you are serious about learning hand lettering, I would suggest you first purchase drill-type books, such as this one for brush lettering: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1612438288?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title or even Amy Latta's other book that exclusively teaches brush lettering (though you will need to purchase more drill pages on your own such as the first link above): https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1645679691?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title These type of books for modern, brush, and block lettering: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1646081498/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_2?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1948209004/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_4?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1 The key is to learn basic strokes, then letters, and master them by doing drills first. Once you got these down, then start putting them into words and sentences and drill these as well, then you are ready for designs (like what's in this book), however this book does not teach the former ones properly. If you wanting to learn proper calligraphy, such as copperplate, then this would be an excellent book to start with: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/8419220531?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title I hope I was able to help you with getting started on your journey with lettering and calligraphy, as well as clarifying the content of this book for you.

Everything you need to know and have fun
This hand lettering book is absolutely brilliant. It gives you the opportunity to copy and practice the art of calligraphy and also has pages that are blank apart from a decorative border so that you can create your own message inside. It gives you so many ideas this book is all you really need brilliant.

Great Book for Lettering
I have a very artistic daughter and she loves this book. She received it as a gift when she was 9 and she and I both loved using it to teach ourselves how to make decorative lettering and doodles. She has loved it for adding flair to lettering on her school projects and making cards for people. She is now 11 and still uses this book so we bought it for her friend’s birthday. This book is great for adults AND kids. (I am NOT artistic but I have had great success in learning to do beautiful letters and doodles with this book!). She and I both equally enjoy it!
