Clairol Nice'n Easy No Ammonia Hair Dye, 90 Dark Ash Blonde

I have brown hair but was wanting to go to a lighter brown shade. My friend recommended this and I said "no way" as I have never been blonde in my life and I just wanted to achieve a lighter brown, not blonde. "You will absolutely not go blonde" she promised. And she was right. It turned my mid brown hair a light shade of brown. After several wasted purchased of other brands which promised light brown hair (and turned my hair fairly dark), I have finally found the perfect product. I have got about 35% grey hair annd it covered all the grey's. The pack includes two bottles of product, a sachet of conditioner, and a pair of plastic gloves. There was no cap to put over your head, and I understand why as the product does not drip. After 30 minutes (I always add an extra 10 minutes just to be sure) and lots of rinsing, the product washed off. Your hair is left very, very soft afterwards. I'm not keen on that "too soft" feel as I wear my hair up and I find that bits keeps slipping out of my hair claw. So if you are the same, don't do it just before you go on holiday (as i did), then have to keep putting clips in the side to catch those stray hairs. All in all a very easy to use product with not too many nasties inside. Well priced too in comparison with similar products.

I have been dyeing my hair for many years from dark ask blonde to a very dark brown but i wanted to go back to my natural colour. After stripping and bleaching my hair i had tried several 'dark ash blonde' hair dyes and each one seemed to have a golden cast even with a decent level of lightness before applying. i ended up removing each one and trying another in frustration. I had originally avoided this as it was a semi permanent but as i was running out of options. OMG what an idiot i was...this colour was perfect. Exactly the colour on the box and exactly the colour i was trying to achieve. No yellow tones and a very even colour all over. It was also not so harsh and drying as some of the others i have tried. This lasts 28 washes approx so you get a decent amount of wear from one application. Instructions for use are clear and simple and gloves are provided. The after conditioner is lovely and my hair was amazingly soft afterwards. I definitely recommend this if you are looking for a true ash blonde.

I had natural dark blonde roots with greys and dyed auburn ends, so I just wanted something to get an even colour all over. I’m really pleased with the results - it didn’t cover the greys BUT it has blended in the different colours of my hair to give a really natural look. Wouldn’t recommend if you want a flat even colour all over, but if you’re not going for a big change and want something natural looking I would recommend. Excellent value for money- depending how many washes it last for!!

I'm a huge fan of Nice and easy, because I adore the natural multi tonal colour! It is sooo natural when ever I dye my hair. Yes it fades and doesn't last as well as more expensive dyes and can go darker than the colour on the box if you leave it on longer or your hair is in poor condition, but I don't care, I simply don't like the flat colour of those other dyes. I also take no notice of the dye time and just keep looking a my roots or over all colour, then when I'm happy I'll rinse it off (my hair is very poreous) This is my go to dye when I bleached my hair lighter after I went too dark, as it toned down the orange but the multi tonal dye gave my hair a really natural looking colour

I like the colour, the 24 shampoos it is supposed to last are about right. I chose this no ammonia solution as it is more gentle on skin and my sensitive scalp as well as the hair itself. Moreover, it seems a better solution in pregnancy since you can avoid potentially harmful ammonia. However, the package says it completely blends away grey hair. Well, I followed the instructions exactly but even though I put it on the roots first where I have some grey hair, it didn't really do the job. I can still see my grey hair, a little less than before, but still. (I wouldn't expect a product like this to cover completely grey hair but this is not the case with me). So all in all good colour and gentle alternative to permanent colour. But don't expect a complete blending of grey hair.

Great for knocking red out of your hair without permanence.

Very disappointed. Used this product for years and years but somehow I've now ended up with a severe demarcation line. It was unavailable for sometime and when I found some on a nother site, I bought quite a few. It came back in stock/available on Amazon again so I purchased one. When it arrived, I found a difference. I use 2 boxes for my hair. First box on as on from my stocks, no issues. Open the second bottle from amazon found the usual bottles inside, now usually they are the white applicator bottle and the blue colourant bottle. This colourant bottle was grey but the box still stated the same colour. So being half head dyed I continued on. After washing I thought it looked a bit different with warm tones (definitely not what I needed and definitely not ashy) but thought nothing of it. 5 weeks later I have a severe demarcation line which is odd since this is a semi permenant shade lighter than my natural colour. Very disappointed with Clairol. Set me back 8 months growing the greys in, not impressed.

After having my hair bleached and dyed bright coral for 6 months I was left with a deposit of coral that would not shift leaving me with dark roots, an almost white section and coraly mid lengths to ends as you can see in picture one. I used two boxes of the Dark Ash Blonde 90 leaving on for 15 minutes after I finished a thorough application. As you can see from photo two it’s done a fantastic job of toning the coral out and making my colour more uniform. I can’t speak for how long it will last but I’m really happy with the results from the application.
