Elgato EyeTV Mobile, TV Tuner for iPad & iPhone (Lightning Connector), black

This is a fabulous device. I have had a number of elgato's products in the past; starting with the simple aerial eyeTV unit and ending with a 4 channel satellite decoder but there has always been a weak point; the WiFi connection to the device in question. As I tend to use my iPad to catch up with the news while cooking and using the WiFi, the reception is glitchy and sometimes quite annoying. Also, for some strange reason, neither of my unit seem to detect the most basic 5 channels! Never been able to work out why, especially as there is no trouble with any of the other devices - TV, TiVo etc. Anyway, as I can actually see the Sandy transmitter mast out of the kitchen window, reception is exceptional here so I thought I would give this little device a go. Of course, without looking at the instructions, I plugged the device into my iPhone and it demanded I downloaded the ap, which I did. After a 20 second scan, I could access 120 channels without glitches or hiccups. Excellent response and great clarity, surprising from such a small aerial. Of course, I do get excellent reception here, I don't really need to plug in an aerial to the TV, the signal is that strong! But given that, this little device works well, is simple to setup and in my book, worth every penny.

So bought this from an Amazon retailer in June for use as a TV Tuner on my Ipad pro for use in my camper. Worked brilliantly, connected to the van TV aerial, in fact superb. So what went wrong? Ios 11, did my update to get all the new Ipad security features, tried the EyeTV, the Ipad wouldn't recognise the device. Contacted the supplier who advised its not their issue but the manufacturer so logged a ticket with them some weeks ago, the response has been that they are working on it, I regularly ask for an update to be told that they are still working on it and cant even give me a schedule for the fix. So my advice, do not buy because it will not work on Ios 11 devices and further, my view is that the manufacturer doesn't care!

I have read some reviews of a similar Elgato eyeTV product that weren't favourable, but decided to chance it after reading some better ones. In fact, this is a superb product. If you want Freeview on your iPad 4 (with Lightning connector) this is the way to get it. Picture quality is excellent, and when the aerial is pointing in the right direction, the picture is fluid without any breakup. I live in an area that gets all Freeview channels, and that is what I got. The autotune was flawless, and the Electronic Programme Guide is superb - better than any other I have seen. You can easily flip up and down the list of channels, or the EPG, as easily as any other app on the iPad. The device itself is nicely made and very small, but even with the provided aerials, the picture quality is all you need. No extra fees to pay for Freeview - and perfect TV recording too. It offers an intuitive interface. Perfect in my view. One tip - it does tell you to fully charge it using the supplied USB cable before connecting it to the iPad for the first time, which I did. If you want Freeview on your iPad 4, iPad Air, iPhone 5 + or iPad Mini...this is a recommended way to get it. You can probably tell I like it. You will too!

Small but beautifully formed. Works extremely well provided you are in a reasonable signal strength area. A bit vulnerable because it's so tiny. The built in telescopic aerial is a little flimsy. Overall very pleased. Probably the biggest risk is losing the device because it's so tiny.

The device will not work with the latest iOS and it looks like they are not willing to update the code. Fortunately I could get it working on an older iPad I had knocking about that was running an older version of iOS and from that it worked well. It would be nice if a) the manufacturer would actually update the software to work with the latest iOS or b) stop selling the device as it is useless for current Apple product users.

Well what can I say. I bought this to use with an IPad in my caravan. I downloaded the App, bit difficult to find so more guidance there would be useful. After downloading though I plugged in the EyeTV component and it fired up straight away and started searching for channels. It found 23 with the small extendable aerial. I then plugged in the remote aerial and scanned again. This time it found 56 channels but some of the cannels it found the first time were not included in new search, so something not quite right there I think. However, it worked perfectly and gave a very good picture on the BBC2 channel we were watching. It seems as though choice of aerial and its position is fairly critical though, so may try to rig up a permanent outdoor aerial for best results. The good thing us, that they provide a coax to mini aerial adaptor with the kit, so happy days there. I would highly recommend this product to anyone, but it all depends on the aerial and signal you can get, which is the same of any TV I suppose, but nothing wrong with the package on offer. It works and does exactly what you would expect it to do. Top class.

The first complaint is that it does not work with iOS 11 devices. It was very disappointing to realize that because I like to keep my devices updated and Now I can't have it working anymore. I even contacted Geniatech to know and searched the internet for solutions but found only other costumers in the same situation. It's a shame for the manufacturer.

We charged before use and have never had any problems with it running out of battery or draining the ipad battery. Only down side we could find is you have to take the ipad out of the case we have to get it to fit.

Meno male che non mi sono lasciato influenzare dalle altre recensioni... Collegato in 3 secondi al mio iPad, installata l'app di una semplicità disarmante, lanciata la ricerca dei canali... Ne ha trovati 215 utilizzando l'antennina in dotazione! Poi con l'altra e con l'adattatore per l'antenna cablata puoi fare a meno di una tv in più in casa. Metti in pausa i programmi, puoi registrarli e rivederli... Insomma, per me le 5 stelle sono d'obbligo.

Leider unterstützt das Produkt kein DVB-T2. Ist also in ein oder zwei Jahren nutzlos bei DVB-T Abschaltung. Also nur bedingt empfehlenswert.

Payé 94€ pour un anniversaire. Le produit est NUL. Cela ne vient pas de l'application mais bin du produit en lui-même : - L'antenne, que vous utilisiez la petite ou la grande déportée, ne capte RIEN. Absolument RIEN. Et dans ce cas ne croyez pas les pubs mensongères du fabricant, vous ne pourrez pas regarder la télé au bar du coin puisque à 20 KMS de paris je ne capte pas. En intérieur comme en extérieur. Super (je ne suis pas le seul regardez sur internet). - Du coup je suis obligé de brancher le récepteur à une prise TV murale et la ça marche nickel rien à redire, l'application est fonctionnelle et sans bug. Du coup si vous avez une prise murale ok mais bon 100€ l'adaptateur ça fait mal... Ah j'oubliais. Les chaînes HD ne fonctionne PAS dessus. Je ne recommande pas. Pas DU TOUT.
