It didn't disappoint. It was a gift for my 6 year old grandson. He needed a little help to set it up but soon got the hang of it. Bought some extra track to give him more shape choices interest. Cars have taken quite a beating already, but they seem to be holding up, other than one of the spoilers flying off now and again, from crashing into the wall. Would definitely recommend.

I would give 0 stars if I could.Ordered as a Christmas gift, so you can imagine mine and the recipients disappointment when one of the tracks didn’t work. One car just wouldn’t go, and when it did go it was jolting, inconsistent with speed and stopped every few laps.Trouble shooted everything (all track connected correctly, changed the thingy on the bottom, swapped what control was plugged into what hole, swapped the tracks each car was on.) and the issue persisted. One of the tracks just wouldn’t work as it should. The other track was fine I should mention.Ordered a replacement. Set it up, and encountered the same issues, on the same side of the track. Again, tried all the solutions I could. The replacement actually had another issue that the first one didn’t! The control won’t work at all unless you’re going full throttle, making the speed limiter completely pointless, but this just means the car goes flying off the track with every turn which defeats the object.I would NOT recommend this product. Too inconsistent in quality and very unreliable. To have two of the same with the same issues just shows how poor quality these are and how prevalent this problem must be.I would save yourself the disappointment and buy something with more reliability and quality of production. Definitely wishing I’d listened to what other reviews had said and saved myself the time and money.

Good fun for the kids

I bought this as a Christmas gift for a 5 year old.In hindsight, maybe it was a bit too advanced for a 5 year old (he finds the car flying off the track and crashing somewhere infinitely amusing).Thankfully there is a power limiter on the remotes (and it throttles the car speed) and now the cars safely stay on the track and I am not afraid he will fling a car to himself anymore (or worse, damage the car!)The build quality is pretty good and you can make/design your own tracks, it even includes a bridge. When using the bridge, the track does work but bends in a way that didn't make me feel super comfortable (and I avoid using the bridge now), plus sometimes the cars will get stuck on a raisin bend if it goes slow enough (looses contacts with the rail)

Bought this for my son for Christmas and it seems i had the same experience as others on here. Quality is NOTHING like i remember mine from the 80’s being!Everything seemed flimsy. One car wouldn’t go at all and the other stopped working within 10 minutes. Took apart and rebuilt. Nothing. Changed the car brushes. Nothing.Only good thing was the ease of returning.Son asked for a replacement but I think I’ll give him the money and look in my parents loft!!!

As others have noted the cars are temperamental & quick to fail in spite of troubleshooting efforts. Not the usual Scalextric standard. It seemed wasteful to return everything i.e track when all at fault were the cars. Contacted Scalextric with the issue who I would give 5 stars for service agreed to replace the 2 dormant cars hopefully with two others of a different model and better build quality. So 5 stars for after service but only 2 - 3 stars on car quality. The track is AOK Scalextric standard. ... the controllers hopefully ... they'll last longer.K.

Bought this for Grandson. From all the dozens of presents he received, this was first one out on Boxing Day.

The set is a lovely set for a first time user although one of the cars stopped working after less than 5minutes of use. So annoying.
